I just tried to upload an image (using FireFox 45.8.0) and:

1. Click-> Select file -> Open does nothing

2. Dragging and Dropping a file throws a popup saying: 'There's no WebGL context available.' and the byte counts show (top right) but then, nothing else.

2. I still haven't got around to writing/finishing up anything other than the core functionality of the service.

3. The reason I posted here is primarily to get feedback on the core functionality.

4. When I do get around to creating the TOS and Privacy Policy etc., what it will essentially state is that a) no human will look at the images and b) all images will be (automatically) deleted within 24 hours from the time they were uploaded/processed. While it is not hard to write this down, it is not high up on my list of priorities at this point in time.

As I mentioned in another thread about a week ago, I have recently been commissioned to create a (simple, stupid) CMS.

One of the features I wanted to incorporate into the CMS is image compression. After a good bit of code hacking and testing, I believe I have got something good going there. That inspired me to create an independent web app/service offering this (image compression) to users at large. My employers have given me the go ahead to do this.

Long story short, here is the alpha (link in title).

(Hopefully, I'll have a much more polished design/UI ready over the weekend.)

For now, please test it at will and give me your feedback/suggestions.

I second that. While I can't realistically say I prefer it over Photoshop since I've never used the later, I can certainly state that GIMP meets ALL my graphics editing requirements (which are not many, but that's besides the point).

My experience indicates otherwise. A case in point: one of the WordPress sites I manage averages ~80k page views/day, peaking to well over 125k/day during peak periods twice a year, and I keep it chugging along happily on a $20/mo Digital Ocean droplet.

This. I tried the exact same thing for a family network a couple of years ago (but the network did not hate Facebook intensely, so it was a bit of an uphill battle). Before I could get them all fully on board, I got sucked into some large gigs so no business resulted in the end. I still hope to revive it some day.

I'm just curious how they're tracking my family in real-time across devices.

using BIOS interrupts to write a program to format a floppy disk and we sat there watching the drive make sounds...

There used to be a virus/trojan that would execute the floppy drive head re-calibration interrupt (BIOS) in an infinite loop to cause the head alignment to go out of whack, rendering the drive defunct.

In the context of the current thread, your handle is cool too!! As I recall, the code for up to INT 19H (or 20?) was stored in the ROM BIOS and for INT 21H and up, in the hidden system files (io.sys/msdos.sys) which would get loaded just before command.com at boot.

This!! And as I recall, if we replace -W with -G (for 'go') and hit Enter, it would immediately reboot. Then, there also used to be a flag (boolean) that could be used to effect either a warm or a cold boot. Nostalgic. :-)
