Couple questions:

1) Do we think this is actually how the FBI found this kid or is this simply what they're saying in order to keep some other tool hidden?

2) Is there a way to block or manually change the GDID from being revealed. If it's the browser leaking it, do all browsers leak it?

And it doesn't have to be something super difficult. I realized after my divorce a decade ago that due to all the hours I had spent working I was a bit of a shit dad and didn't really have a great relationship with my kids.

One of the best things I did was started a "family game night" every week. Bought a handful of board games and each Saturday we'd sit down with pizza and games. No cellphones at the table. It was a huge success for us. It allowed us to learn new things together and it helped build a foundation for us all to grow from. Even now with all but one of my kids grown, when we get together games are brought out and we have a blast. Nowadays I'm teaching my grandson to play some simple ones and can't wait for him to join in.

You're right, it's situations like that which brought up this idea. Some way to reliably document a statement or idea and the date just seems like a useful service.

The notarization would be a bit difficult since each state has their own rules and laws. Additionally, I think they all have a residency requirements, at least the two states I've been a notary in did.

But can't the time and dates can be changed those.

As for recording phone calls, the laws vary from state to state. The states I have experience with only require one person on the conversation to be aware that it's being recorded.

Audiobook: I just finished Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson. I highly recommend it if you're into fantasy type novels. It has a unique magic system and is very well written. I've been off and on with War and Peace for a while. Kind of dry so far.

Kindle: The Law by Frederic Bastiat, extremely good book describing the fundamental purpose of law and government.

Dead Tree: Essence of Discrete Mathematics by Neville Dean, seems to be pretty good book, just haven't devoted enough time to reading it.

The best piece of advice I can give is to stay away from McDojo type places. You know the ones. Usually franchises, instructor's with questionable lineage, 'clubs' that will take you from nothing to black belt for a set fee, etc. One in particular has added several new belts in my lifetime just to keep people longer. Some teach their own version of an art, so what you learn won't transfer if you ever move.

Some forums were already suggested. If you're interested in learning about traditional martial arts I highly recommend http://www.karate-budo.com/. It's a small forum and they don't approve everyone (or, they didn't when I joined; not sure now). But the people there are serious about their martial arts.

Others have mentioned researching the schools. I'd recommend researching the Sensei. Find out who he trained under and research that person as well.

My $.02 worth.

I have four daughters ages 4 to 14 and the one thing, without a doubt, that kids did for me was that they help me to slow down and appreciate the little things in life. If it wasn't for a my daughters (and my wife, to a lesser extent) I'd probably do nothing but work and sleep. But they keep me grounded in the rest of the world. And something as simple as a few minutes watching a show or playing a game together brings me more joy than it ever did before I had them.

As for you questions; yeah, it'll can change your priorities, inspire you to do more or do different. And, as you can see in the rest of the comments, having a baby instantly requires everyone to give all the advice they wished someone had given them.

My advice, ignore 99.9% of what everyone tells you. Doing that is what kept my wife and I sane.

I'm hoping that posting here would help with #1.

On #2... maybe I can throw some color in the 'Submit your story' block in the top right. It's already set to accept anonymous stories.

Thanks for pointing out the issue on the contact page. It has been fixed.

I've been in touch with Yodlee recently as well. I'm going to call them back today to clarify, but it was my understanding that the fee was per user account not user. Meaning if John Doe signs up and has 3 credit cards and 2 banks, that's 5 user accounts. Hopefully I'm wrong on this.

Personally, I started off with the 'real' clients and then moved on to the position you find yourself in. Personally, the real client's weren't worth the effort. Once I had a good relationship with a few shops, I didn't have to bother with any more marketing and sales thus freeing me up to do billable work.

Of course, this was better for me b/c I hate doing sales. YMMV.

As a former police officer, I highly advocate having an ICE contact in your phone. It really can make a huge difference.

That said, it doesn't do a lick of good to have an ICE contact set up if, when the first responder picks up your phone, it asks for a password to get into it. It's one of those cases where you need to weigh the balance on convenience vs security.

It's true that getting your sphere of influence to adopt a new social network is a pain. But that said, years ago I started off on Friendster, then moved to MySpace, and now I'm at Facebook. I would expect that Facebook's fame will cool just like the others did. Surely Facebook isn't as untouchable as Google is in the search market. Is it?
