It will be interesting to watch Linode claim back the lost ground from DO.
I am a long time DO user. I am with them since their first YouTube ad. Anyone remembers "You have been coding like a beast..." ad? I have aggressively promoted them in my circle. But I love Ryan more. He helped me with my Rails chops. I am an Indiehacker and most of my projects are hosted with them. I don't bill much, around $200 a month but I am moving that business to Linode. Bye bye DO.
A happy namecheap customer here. Moved from Godaddy to namecheap because they revealed me as the owner of a domain I was using for activism. Caused me a lot of harassment.
Put up your old domain with content and then do a rel canonical from each page on the old domain to the corresponding page on new domain.
I faced same issue couple years back. Hope it helps.
Sorry if the same answer has been given before mine.
Do you live in Noida?
Read $3000 a month
Directory apps. My self-education is still underway. I hope to build a SaaS product soon.
The channel is still active. I cannot reveal it publicly out of fear of a second backlash from Youtube. I still earn about $600 a month from the channel. At its peak I earned c. $3000 a year.
Youtube creator here. I am running a Youtube channel for the last few years and it is my full-time job. About a year back I criticized youtube on twitter. Soon afterward my views started dropping. Though it cannot be concluded that my tweets were responsible it is difficult to explain how a channel which was very popular in its niche will suddenly fall off the cliff?
I am over 40 years old and I am unable to find regular employment. For the last 6 months, I am learning to program and trying developing 3 web apps. I am hoping that one of them will reach ramen profitability.
How many can keep affording expensive phones line iPhone X and planned obsolescence?
I used to love my mac book pro. Sadly, it is not the same device which it used to be. The quest to make it thinner has actually made it a substandard machine. I feel Apple has lost a lot of developer love and brand capital since Jobs. I am hoping things would improve on the product front. Not all devs live in the US. For devs in developing countries, a mac book pro is a serious investment. We want a machine which is robust and long-lasting. If things continue they way they have in last few years my next machine will not be a mac book.
I will disagree with you here. Cases which are in the public eye are settled without the things you mentioned. There are Indian government institutions which are honest. Financial regulator and watchdog SEBI is one such institution. I have worked in the financial services industry are we were scared of SEBI. Competition Commission of India is also nonpartisan and has never been in a corruption scandal as far as I know.
Talk about a wrong name.
Cost to Company ie what an employee costs a company. It is also sometimes used in place of salary although incorrectly.
You have hit the nail on the head. I moved from Windows to Ubuntu many years back. I installed Ubuntu 12.04 on my windows machine in 2010 and by chance everything worked like magic. I purchased a new machine in 2015 without much thought and installed Ubuntu. To my horror it would not detect my Qualcomm wifi and AMD Radeon Graphics. Banged my head around to find a solution to Qualcomm wifi. But the 2gb graphics card is just a piece of silicon on my motherboard which does not work.
Not anymore. GST has streamlined it. I am not from the trucking industry but I have some friends who are. GST has done away with local taxes and the Trucking industry has benefited from it.
I am a Netflix subscriber in India. The monthly subscription fee is Rs 800. Which is very high by Indian standards. A very small portion of Indian audience has taste for American shows. Some of Netflix's Indian shows have a political/ideological undertone which is not liked by a segment of audience. Netflix and Amazon both suffer from a very limited collection of Bollywood movies. These are some reasons IMHO.
I watched this video today and here it is on Hacker News. What a coincidence.
These were my thoughts also. During WW II German tanks were technologically superior to Russian tanks. However Russian tanks were easy to repair in the field and that was one of the reasons why Russian armour prevailed over German armour.
Pick up rails book from pragmatic bookshelf. Give it a quick read. Then watch railscast videos. Then to rails doc and gorails.
For me HN is more valuable than FB. Value of HN has stayed the same for me over the years while the value/utility of FB has gradually eroded and I hardly ever use Facebook now.
Flipkart was not delivering a Dell monitor worth rs 30000 to NOIDA which adjoins capital New Delhi. Purchased it from Infibeam.
In India kids use pencil up to 4th standard. From 5th standard onward they start using pens. Buying a fountain pen and inkpot used to be a big thing back in the day. I still remember my first fountain pen. My mother purchased it for me in 1987. It used to be sort of rite of passage. We did not have gel pens in India back the. Using ball pen was strictly forbidden. The reason given was that writing with fountain pen improves handwriting. These days kids use gel pen as their first pen. Usage of fountain pens in India is dying at least in bigger cities.
This quote has taken me back to my engineering college days. Thanks for sharing this.
BJP winning election in UP with huge margin is an indicator.
I am not an economist or a sociologist. These are my personal observations. Ordinary citizen is not a monolith in India. Ordinary citizen can be subdivided into (with overlap) 1. Middle Class 2. Salaried Class 3. Farmers 4. Daily Wage Workers 5. Unskilled, Semi-skilled and skilled working in Unorganized sector. 6. ... and so on Different people were inconvenienced to different extent. Middle class salaried category was inconvenienced to the extent that there was a cash crunch and India being a cash economy buying stuff became difficult for a few days. The ruling party the BJP won a major state election with record margin just 4 months after demonetization. Probably a large majority was not too much inconvenienced. BJP also re-aligned with a political ally in another major state. Had ordinary people being inconvenienced as some stories in media and reports suggest BJP would have become a political pariah. A lot of money has come back to the banking system. How it happened is another long story. This has reduced bank lending rates. Banks are offering housing, business and other loans at a lower rate.
I remember reading this in Readers Digest way back in the early 90s.
Can you please elaborate on the deep learning part. What kind of network dis you use?
I completely agree with you. I was a user of Balsamiq mock-up tool. But since they moved on to subscription model I stopped using it.
