We've recently released an app on iOS that has ads and is aimed at a younger audience. We have an option to remove the ads and it comes with an added ability to put a childlock on in app messaging. Later when we add a store into the app we will add features to lock it further because we want to do right by our customers who we hope include parents of kids.

What I didn't expect was the slump in sales we make from ad removal offerings. We make more money from the ads than from purchases of ad removal. I see a lot of folks say "I'll pay for a no ads experience" but the reality is most folks will continue to use the app with the ads even when the option to remove them exists.

Adding code to handle ad removal is another feature which takes time to develop and keep up to date as APIs and system versions change. Sadly, it may not be lucrative enough for most developers to put that effort in to provide the option.

Exactly what I thought when I saw the name. I was confused.

From the FAQ: Will lectures be recorded? Because this is a student initiated course, the lectures won't be recorded.

This. I'm taking the class now. Octave is invaluable and I wouldn't be able to complete the course without it. I've donated and agree that anyone that takes the course to contribute too.

I'm not sure if I agree with the sentiment that you need to pivot. There is a huge need to create a website by individuals and companies. Not everyone wants a social media page.

Your site design was very clean and I was initially interested. The only deterrent for me was the FB login.

As a privacy concern I didn't want to give up my facebook information so I backed out of trying it.

The point where I became hesitant and backed out was when it showed my picture and said you wanted my public profile, friend list and email address. Why would this site need my friends list?

Am I dead? I haven't participated much in conversation but I know the few posts I made awhile back didn't get much response.

So cool. The best part is sometimes the randomly generated names are aptly appropriate.

The design firm he works for does very high profile work. He expressed he enjoyed making the logo for my startup. According to him smaller companies like progressive and exciting logos. I just thought I'd post it here. Hackernews has been a great community to me and this seemed like a really nice opportunity.

I love startups and the thrill of success. But there is nothing that a successful startup can bring you that is anywhere near the feeling of having the love of your life tell you that she loves you back.

I've met Mark (BarCam 4 and 5) and found him to be very intelligent and personable. I think he did the right thing (and smart thing) to flip this. If you look at his other work, it's more long standing and of bigger scope comparatively.

I've worked on short projects as well and then have my longer projects. For example http://www.Blabberize.com has been running for over 3 years now. We could have had a quick and early pay off by flipping the site but instead we took the long haul route to build it out. It feels completely different from a quick turn over project. As such, comparing a site like this to a much larger business with deep technology and IP does not make much sense.

On the multi-page form demo. It goes automatically from page 1 to page 3. I expected a page 2.

Point taken. The "warm" is more towards how when you care for someone you want to keep them safe and warm. It's not meant to invoke ventilation blocking imagery.

From what little I understand about electronics, I do believe you are right. I think most electronics do prefer the cold. That is my mother's wording on the site. I'll ask her if she would like to change the "warm" to "snug" or "cozy".

Taking your suggestion. I placed it in the sidebar and I'm looking for other places to place the buy button that makes sense.

I can place the buy button all over but felt that placing it at the bottom of the front page was sufficient. There isn't much on the front page other then the gallery and a paragraph of text.

Would you suggest having it on other places?

Aha! Thanks for pointing that out. I can definitely fix that.

That's the reason my mother decided to make and sell them. She thought others will be getting kindles as gifts from loved ones and would want to keep them protected without having to spend a lot. In fact she wanted to make the price lower but after seeing the time she put into them I told her that she should price them such that she's properly compensated for her efforts.

I don't have a kindle but I wanted a little pouch for my palm pre and offered to pay her so that I could be her first customer but she wouldn't take my money smiles. I'm sure she could make a business making little bags for the various gadgets we have. I was thinking I'd make a page where individuals could make custom size requests for little bags for their gadgets.
