A saner way to handle repos is to recognize that it's not necessary for people to have the full history of everything in the repository stored on their local machine most of the time.

Local history enables rebasing. Of course you can do it without local history already present, say in SVN you'd use separate branches for changes and 'rebased' changes where you merge your work on top of some new state of trunk. But this involvs creating branches(and at cleast one checkout for separate branch folder) and communicating with the server(takes time). This all means that people almost never do this. With git rebase is a snap. But of course one can live without rebase, it's not oxygen or something.

Most people don't want to use such words and are glad they aren't used in normal conversation. They don't miss cross-burnings; they don't miss similarly violent words.

I've used word "replace" in another comment about pair-programming. It feels now that it's a trend in "cargo-cult-agile" to somehow inverse agile manifesto principles. E.g. replace understanding of how team should work with a formal sertified scrum process - "you do iterations, standups and stuff - you fine!" Burn-down carts and sheer numbers of closed tasks disguise real state of the software being developed(just create more tasks and then split them to create volume).

+1. A "manager" can't replace a "team". And having a "team" is one of the key aspects of being agile(this is what "peope and interactions" is about).

And she was saved from their violent desires only by asking help from conference officials! Then everyone finds out that Hank is a brutal sexist, apparently! And you're saying "a bit of a stretch"! Here's a stretch - I believe he should've been thankful that was just fired and not electrocuted as sexism treatment that I'm sure was planned as the next logical move!

That's what terrorists do - they are trying to make an impression that their possible actions are much for dredful that what they'r asking from you. But it doesn't make you particularly bad if you feel scared, does it? And act out of fear? Like giving up something yours - one of your employees or, say, one of your freedoms?
