Actually, employees don't give a shit about the companies they work at and they should be treated as such. If it's not their own company all they care about at the end of the day are the money they get (the more, the better), the conditions they get and to complain about every single fucking thing. All this while trying to trick you as much as possible by not being efficient or trying to become better at what they are doing, on their own.

So I'd urge owners of companies to hire and fire people quick. There are rarely good people who stay within a company for more than 2 years and who care about what they do. Those people usually become part of it (partners).

The rest are just there temporary, so treat them as such: shitty replacement parts.

Hey Tyler, I hate to do this to you (and to SnapWidget and others), but there's something cooking.

With the API and feature rich product updates that are coming up, I think we'll hit a cross road. I don't think I have to go into details, you'll figure it out with this sample widget + Editor: http://blogvio.com/widgets/util/map-with-google-maps/composi...

I just want to let you know that we appreciate you opened up and shared your story. I checked your product and it's cool. Keep up the good work! Don't hate the messenger. :-)

Amazon Dash 12 years ago

They released this amazing piece of hardware, and then they can use the same technology to complement it with an app. So you have both worlds happy - with or without a smartphone in the house. ;)

Amazon Dash 12 years ago

Best idea ever, wow what a great product and functionality! This should be in every house! :-)

Amazon acts like a startup still. Good for them!

We've had this same problem at Blogvio. Users asked us why we need access to their entire Dropbox. And indeed we didn't need - but we didn't know better either.

After a bit of research we found out we can have a specific folder set to Blogvio that would sync with the system. And that, combined with something like Zapier is a much better solution that we envisioned first. Learning by mistakes! :-)

Let's see. There's a few somewhat passive channels for us.

We just launched our product Blogvio (http://www.blogvio.com) which is yet break even. Right now we're only partnering with platforms to white label our Editor and widgets, but we'll soon release a pricing plan for all users of the website.

Our 2008 marketplace Flabell (http://www.flabell.com) (flash products... I know) is still going strong, although we too think Flash is dead. People still buy those components, so we still provide support for them. We stopped advertising though a few years back. :-)

Same goes for our Flash Components on ActiveDen, these still sell a couple of hundreds every month. So it's still passive income after 6yrs+. :)

Blogvio - We’re an early-stage startup focused on making content distribution easy and fun!

We are currently seeking a few developers to join the team and help us reach our goals. Our web stack is based on Symfony, a custom implementation of SpineJS / CoffeeScript and MongoDB. Ideally you’re also experienced with Stylus / NIB, enjoy analytics and have some front end skills (Ajax, HTML5, CSS3).

Correct. :)

It surprised us as well. We were expecting to have quite a spike in the traffic, since 100k users is a lot. And it is also the reason why Twitter went so big with the IPO in the first place.

What happened instead is this: http://o7.no/1dgSQg7 (only 29 clicks from Twitter directly)

http://o7.no/1dgTkCR (I will attribute this growth to Twitter for the sake of helping them look better, although it isn't - we've been approaching different user acquisition hacks)

But now I'm actually wondering how many of these Twitter accounts are real. I'd guess 5% tops, or lower. Is it actually worth advertising with Twitter at all?

Blogvio (http://www.blogvio.com) - add beautiful widgets to your website.

It's cool because you don't need to do any coding to add beautiful and custom galleries, video players, mp3 players, and any other types of widgets to your website. Just copy/paste an embed code and you're done.

This helps you a lot especially if you're an agency or freelancer, or if you're using a publishing tool such as Wix, SquareSpace, Weebly, etc - where you don't have access to a server to upload files.

Hi and thanks for the feedback!

1) It's a sample widget. Hit the widget word and it will loop through several. Those will change as we release them so that we feature new ones constantly.

But I understand how it can be confusing.

2) The plan is to keep the user focused on the only thing that matters, the widgets. We'll think this through.

3) Agreed! :)

4) Will check, thanks!

The reason we did that type of animation there was to go through the four types of widget categories we cover (video, audio, images and utilities). Do you think it makes more sense to just keep widgets instead of animate to it?

Oh, sorry had to mention it! We did stop the iPad version as it needs work on the touch events. So it redirects you to mobile too.

On mobile you have what you've seen :-) so that we don't loose the users. It wouldn't make much sense for them to use Blogvio there as the screen is small for content creation.

Will definitely post more after launch, including this press list. We should be covered by a big player tomorrow. :-)

I'd say you need to hit the road really hard, and try to approach entities to which your product would provide real value.

For example we also found partnerships to be a great distribution channel. We approach them by showing how much value our product can bring to their service (e.g. http://andreipotorac.roon.io/from-blogvio-with-love - this is the real deal). So far it worked great with the ones we approached! This means thousands of potential users so far!

On the other hand, we help them with user acquisition since we're a platform that integrates well with publishing tools.

So:

1. Partnerships

2. Press

3. Sites above

This is the order you should use when building you distribution strategy.
