Great team player and leader, active communicator, dedicated and self driving. Can approach business problems from many angles to figure out the best software solution, delivering it on time and have a solid plan on how those specific objectives integrate with larger company needs.

I don't think there are any Mortgage Collectors that do not allow you to send a physical check that needs to be processed. Of course they'll encourage you to set up AutoPay, bank transfers, etc, since it makes their job easier with no benefit to you (same can be said about "paperless").

Does the 7 day return policy not alleviate those fears?

Or do you look at it from a perspective, I want a new car, have $40k to spend, let me test all the options, and being all-electric isn't a binary choice?

I think of it in 2 ways:

1) You have budget for a new car, shopping in the segment covered by Tesla offerings. You care not for its drive train and evaluating it purely on the car likeness. You go to different dealerships and educate yourself on different car features (as opposed to online) and test drive while you're there. Tesla not having retail presence hurts, for sure.

2) You do your research online, watching reviews on youtube, reading reviews in CR, etc. You are pretty certain you want car X, but want to test drive it to make sure. If that car is a Tesla, you have to buy it, knowing you can return it if something doesn't line up, getting your money back.

One of the main stated goals of vertical landings is so they can do it on other planets/bodies. There are other proven methods of reuse when you have a benefit of an atmosphere and/or infrastructure.

A working vertical landing mode that can also be used on Mars, Moon and other objects in the solar system is one of the major mission at SpaceX. Shipping a giant vat of non-corrosive/conductive liquid to another planet does not appear viable.

RedLaser was released on May 15, 2009. It works with original, 3G, and 3gs iPhones (although it is faster on 3gs). It was released for the pure need for that scanning barcodes was very subpar on the iPhone. They were the first (and I think still the only, most others license their tech) app on the iPhone to do barcode recognition straight on the phone (no need to take a picture or send it to a server to be 'read'). Until very recently that wasn't possible with horribly slow Android SDK.

Read Occipital's story on their blog http://occipital.com/blog/2009/08/01/2009-at-occipital-from-...

Whats interesting is the fact that they license their tech to any other app that wants barcode scanning functionality in exchange for 10% cut of the sales (10 cents on the dollar) so the "app" will live past the success of redlaser.

Of course Occipital has other things brewing as well :)

Thank you for your feedback, trying to come up with a concrete answer to OP's question before this post runs its course is tough, as is finding good examples of past submissions. Perhaps searchyc.com doesn't include dead articles, maybe I'm missing a great opportunity to submit techstars related content, but examples I gave are indeed quite shitty and rest of the argument totally breaks down.

I do present you with 1 interesting discussion on a few similarities between techstars and ycominator startups (Loopt/Brightkite, Foodzie/Foodoro and IntenseDebate/Disqus) which of course brings up great points for both sides of the argument: http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=547991

Fair point, I was trying very hard not to come out sounding like a guy with a tinfoil hat. To sum it up: I believe there is simply not enough interest towards TechStars posts due to the reasons I outlined. It's certainly not a targeted backlash as some feel toward TechCrunch or clear affinity towards a subject, i.e YC-related startups.

We could form a gang and get enough upvotes to make the front page, but once its there, community has to be interested enough to keep it on the home page for any useful period of time, and as many experiences in the past indicate, thats just hasn't been the case.

Funny you should mention it but the guy who is in charge of SEO just took a month off flying courtesy of JetBlue all over the country :) Needless to say you're absolutely correct in your conclusion, visibility is something a lot of TC teams struggle with early on.

Because getting anything TechStars related to the front page of Hacker News is an uphill battle (which most of the Boulder HN folk realize and simply not submit TC material) here are some examples:

* FiltrBox 7 pts: http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=246634

* TC 09 Graduation discussion 29 pts, 6 comments: http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=746347

* OneFourty 1pt: http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=849893

Majority never even make it past 1 point, they ether are set to dead for some reason or just have no support to ever make it out to the front page and if they do, community at large are simply not receptive to the story so it dies quickly. The confrontation goes back to when TechStars first started in 07 because they were the 2nd tech start up "incubator" (even though more correct term is accelerator) and YC community felt ether threatened or uninterested by the proposition and simply ignored those submissions. Solution is simple, just get your TechStars fix somewhere else, perhaps a filtrbox keyword search for techstars is a great start :)

Edit: would love to hear the reason for the downvotes.

I don't think you'd be able to get people to pay for premium features...what would they be anyways? I do have 1 idea: Sponsored tweet placement. Companies are probably willing to pay extra money for certain tweets to get special placement.

Besides that you should get retweets/replies working, i wanted to RT a few things and got put off by the coming soon box.

Surprised there isn't any votes for Postbox app (http://getpostbox.com).

  * It integrates well with gmail
  * does great with multiple accounts
  * multiple outgoing addresses
  * great search functionality
  * GTD tools such as assigning emails a topic.
  * Integration with facebook/twitter to pull up contact info
  * Extensions such as calendar and contacts
Based on thunderbird, all around awesome client.

do him a service and at least upgrade to IE8, it also does wonders if you just replace his 'internet' icon with a browser thats more recent, he'll never know the difference but will thank you later that he can watch videos of his grandsons on youtube.

Warning: This will follow tipjoy account and DM you for no reason (other than to give you a password that I don't ever see using). Nether of which are explained on ether side of this implementation.

Now somebody has to tip me 15 cents to get my SMS message cost back because TipJoy DMed me.

Replace free blogs with tech buzz and publicity from established blogs and its exactly the same thing in eyes of google. This would never get you banned.
