I don't see what does it to differently from usual keyboards, other than letters flying all around the screen, which don't add any new functionality. Maybe video just doesn't cover that? What's different about your keyboard, what can it do better that your typical Gboard can't?

One of the best things about Keypirinha is plugin support and PackageControl that let's you install new plugging from within Keypirinha itself.

Maybe not as lightweight, but I can't imagine myself using windows without Keypirinha anymore.

I added reserve email and in 2FA setup dialog there's still no authenticator option, just Yubikey, notification on Adnroid, or SMS by phone number.

I got myself a domain and trying to set up my mail server, but my VPS hosting is blocking outbound port 25. So I can receive emails, but can't send anything. ispmail guide has no workarounds for that…

Yes, I do have session in my browser and I would use it as a second factor to manually approve every login to my account from my browser if I had option to do that, but Google doesn't allow that. You can only confirm logins from android or apple device.

Because I'm using a fork that is not signed by Google and it can't use OAuth, unfortunately.

I might do this (install an emulator and use auth app there) if I can successfully login from it, I just need a lot of time to do that (internet here is really slow).

I asked one of my friends with faster internet to do that for me but google blocked an attempt to login with correct username and password.

You are right that I can bypass adding phone number if I have Yubikey, but unfortunately I don't have one and can't get it.

True, I just didn't write that because physical security key is not an option where I live.

I'm sorry I didn't mention that in my post, I wasn't trying to lie, I just can't obtain physical key and I don't think I have to have physical key to read my emails.

I think if I'm gonna pay for using email, I'll just try to get any cheap VPS/domain and try to run my own email. It'll be more expensive for sure, but at least it will be my own thing I'm paying for.

I have a small free VPS and free domain name (whatever.duckdns.org). Do you think I can make a mail server that works, that could send emails that won't end up in spam folder of other people, and that I could use to create accounts?

I have thoughts of running my own mail server, but a lot of sites just won't let you create an account if you don't provide «trusted» email, and by «trusted» most of the time they mean gmail.

It's not even about not willing to spend 1$ for a random phone number.

Here's a list of things that are wrong with what Google does:

- If you want to read your email, you have to use app specific password. I'm ok with that.

- You can't generate app specific passwords if you don't have 2FA enabled. That's some artificial limitation made to force you into adding phone number to your account.

- You can't use authenticator app to enable 2FA. I have no idea why SMS which is the least secure way to send information is a primary method and authenticator app which can be set up by scanning QR from the screen without sending any information at all is «secondary» and can only be used after you give your phone number.

- You can use «notification» to confirm it's you, but you can only do that on the phone. I'm currently logged in in my browser, certainly I could confirm any login attempt from that same browser, wouldn't that be a second factor?

- Nowhere in announcements or help pages or in the Google Account interface they tell you that you can't generate app passwords if you don't have 2FA. The button is just missing and you wouldn't even know it should be there unless you search on the internet.

- Nowhere they tell you the only way to enable 2FA is to link your account to your phone number or to your android/iphone device, the options are just not there.

All of this is just bizarre and ugly. I have no idea why other people are not complaining, probably most of them just accepted that and added phone numbers.

I absolutely agree with you. I see no need for emojis. Maybe it was fun when some IM apps started to turn text (like :-* ) into little images, but now we have software for making emojis, software for rendering emojis, thousands of utf8 codepoints for every possible emoji, emojis of all races and genders, bugs in software because it was supposed to have text input and can't handle emojis correctly, whole sites and fonts and keyboards made specifically for emojis… Did humanity really waste thousands of hours so that people can send a little poop image?

Can people just explain their feelings as they always did in the past, or if that's for some reason not possible, just send a photo or a jpeg of a smiling cartoonish face? Do we really need emojis as they are, sequences of bites that have to be standardized and render correctly on every device and any font?

I just don't get this obsession with emojis. It started as a fun toy, but now it's a huge waste of time for thousands of developers.

If you use Vimium (I use Vimium-C) extension, you can select any text on the page from keyboard.

Basically, you search for first few letters, then quit search and move end of your selection to the end of word (might need to do it few times).

But yeah, site isn't really convenient to use. I love minimalism though so if it was just a blog in one txt file without links (there is a blog like that, saw it sometime ago here on Show HN), it would be fine.

There was also WindowGrid, it doesn't use keyboard shortcuts, but you can tile windows with a mouse, which might be useful too.

Why is floating heart icon that overlaps with image considered better than being under the image? The so called «importance» you add makes it so that it's harder to see the image and I'd say it's more important.

Why would a heart icon need to be important? Image is important, it's part of the content, and each image is different. Hearts, well, are generated elements, there's a heart on each item, and they are all the same. Do you really want your heart buttons be more important than item images? Looks like you are making image the least important element.

Call me old, but Total Commander.

So much functionality and extensibility in a pretty small software, it almost didn't change in years, and still does its job very efficiently, and my favourite part is that you can literally do every possible action with just a keyboard.

I love software that doesn't require a mouse. Terminal emulators and shells are obviously things I love using (hello vim users), but Total Commander is probably the only GUI software I respect because I could do just fine if my mouse got broken.

Also, Keypirinha + Everything search. Both of those individually are great and do their job well, but the fact that you can combine them makes them even better. Oh, and Total Commander also can use Everything search.
