"Reduce, Reuse, Recycle" -- in the order of priority. Why select Recycle when alternatives are simple and viable?
As the largest hotel soap recycler in the world, Clean the World has helped lead to a 60%+ reduction in the number of children who die from diarrheal diseases each year.
Wow, casually overclaiming their ~0% impact. No doubt these folks are getting all the grants and we are discussing them here.
At Houston Methodist, where 150 employees left from a work force of about 26,000 people, the hospital said that there had been little lasting effect on its ability to hire people. And when Texas was hit with rising numbers of Covid cases over the summer, the hospital found that fewer of its workers were out sick.
“The mandate has not only protected our employees, but kept more of them at work during the pandemic,” a hospital spokeswoman said in an email.
ChristianaCare, a hospital group based in Wilmington, Del., said on Monday that it had fired 150 employees for not complying with its vaccine mandate. But the group emphasized that over the last month it had hired more than 200 employees, many of whom are more comfortable working where they knew their colleagues were vaccinated.
More health workers are fed up with constant stream of unvaccinated patients in hospitals (also a big overlap between assholes and unvaccinated in USA where vaccines are available), so they would rather want everyone to be vaccinated. Ask your doctor friends and relatives.

Definitely, "Neths" spread their engineering across many continents. However, their engineering practices are now considered a prime reason behind the environment catastrophe that many cities like New Orleans are facing.
On a practical level, using version control and a code review mechanism (e.g. GitHub PRs) within the research group equivalent in rigorousness to what you'd see at a good practice software development shop in industry.
Let us (professional s/w engineers) not pat ourselves in the back by confusing standard industry practices with 'rigorousness'. Rigorousness would be formal verification and proofs. How many s/w engineers can do that? How much will it slow down the development speed?
There are many people looking for introduction into genomics and NGS applications. One of the books I found to be extremely useful is Genomic Quirks (https://www.amazon.com/Genomic-Quirks-Search-Spelling-Errors...). This book explains genomic concepts with several case studies.
" b)Asking for a sexual favor off-site while the candidate was still waiting for response. Neither it in and of itself an offense" -> Are you serious? How is this not wrong in HN world?
In case this story is interesting, then definitely watch "Atari: Game Over" documentary (available on Amazon Prime). It deals with the company, the people, and of course the dug.
