I remember advertiser exodus from YouTube and advertiser exodus from Facebook, twice. They returned, eventually.

The bigger problem is current recession. Budgets for ads are cut first.

Utility poles 8 years ago

Transformer oil is there primary for cooling and secondary for corrosion resistance. When you see transformer burning, it's the oil inside. Larger transformers cycle oil through pipes visible outside.

In the Czech Republic (or at least in some parts) pole numbers and their positions are shared with emergency services. If you are disoriented, reading the number identifies your exact position. Works for railway crossings as well.

Update: typos

While cleaner, technically geothermal energy is not renewable. After couple of years the area is cooled down and efficiency drops. For example, one project planned in central Europe is expected to last only 15 years. Then re-drilling is necessary or leaving the drill to re-charge. Among other risks, contamination of underground water and earthquakes are commonly mentioned.

The response makes the situation even more absurd. Suddenly it is OK to denounce a professor because he/she is not correct from someones point of view? Isn't a debate about what is real and what is not the base for any science?

I would understand, but not be happy for, that professors are called for not being politically correct. I can't understand denouncing for not being correct by someone's argumentation.

I believe more and more that social justice and seeking for truth are not compatible.

Universities must choose between TRUTH or Social Justice, not both: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kaQ-ZF9S3uk

Regarding Scandinavian countries, while these are very rich, the cost of living is also very high. The high equality perceived from statistics is actually an economical pressure.

Had a friend in Denmark employed as univerisy lecturer. His salary was very high, yet they were struggling with two kids and wife unemployed (due to language barrier).

Don't mix MWh and MW (it's commonly used to mislead, but not here). The article is declaring 20MHh of storage while using 5MW power turbine. 5MW output from 20MWh storage gives you 4h output.

Edit to add: If you want to make proper calculations, don't forget that these types of storages are very inefficient. You can't compare them with pumped hydro.

Few things

- You request once _per CDN_. Common libraries are hosted on multiple CDNs and you may simply load them from multiple locations. For example jQuery is hosted by MaxCDN, Google, Microsoft, Cloudflare, jsdelivr.

- Some CDNs may be temporarily down. It happened for me already multiple times, including Google CDN and Cloudflare CDN.

You seem to be confused with theoretical stack-based machines with their clear implementation, and their practical implementations. There's no reason why stack-based machine cannot have one instruction to add a constant, for example "addc 125" to add 125 to the top of the stack.

Similarly, there's no reason why register-based VMs wouldn't have push/pop instructions.

I believe the simplest solution on Apple's side is to add a physical indicator of when the camera is on or off. It must not be software controlled, not even on system/FPGA level. Best if attached on power on/off. With a hysteresis so that even quick on/off will be noticed.

Edit to add: Here's what may happen if the indicator is software controlled: "iSeeYou: Disabling the MacBook Webcam Indicator LED" https://jscholarship.library.jhu.edu/bitstream/handle/1774.2...

David Sacks and Peter Thiel wrote an excellent book "The Diversity Myth". They report on how corrosive impact have certain ideologies on higher education and academic freedom. I recommend to read it just to get a boarder view into the problem no matter on what side you are now.

I showed only few examples. While we may discuss individual points, I believe the whole imbalance has been clearly shown.

By arguing that the level of abuse by man and woman is roughly the same you are actually enforcing the point, not making is weaker. And if we are looking at the whole picture, presenting totals makes complete sense. We don't need detailed statistics to point the imbalance. There's no question that the type of abuse differs among men and women.

While it is seen as a problem, the point is that it's not taken seriously enough than the opposite imbalance.

There are way worse examples:

Male students are getting a whole one level worse marks than female students with the same knowledge [1] (Czech).

Theoretically, each parent has an equal right to the custody of the child when they separate. In reality, with a whooping 85-90% the custody is resolved according to female preference [2]: "It is a very common scenario in divorce in England that the house is transferred into the wife's sole name, the children live with the wife and the husband pays maintenance for the children..."

Males are 400-600% more likely to be attacked than females, while it is females safety that is discussed way more.

The vector of home violence is woman against child and not man against woman as often believed: "The DHHS data shows that of children abused by one parent between 2001 and 2006, 70.6% were abused by their mothers, whereas only 29.4% were abused by their fathers."

Even worse, when child is killed: "And of children who died at the hands of one parent between 2001 and 2006, 70.8% were killed by their mothers, whereas only 29.2% were killed by their fathers."
