I use Linux every day, where AI coauthored analysis and code has already contributed to harden its security. Like it or not, any project that categorically rejects AI contributions or engages in vague activist type purity spiral testing over "vibe coding" seems like a security liability at best.
Unfortunately the truth is far worse, and some of us have to share a union with these fools ;)

Many people use Linux not because it’s the best but for political reasons, for reasons of autonomy or to be part of a community.
The Linux kernel however was not created to serve as a vehicle for your particular strain of politics. In fact, it has been built in large parts by some biggest tech companies on the planet, with politics to the very contrary of yours. It achieved mass market success only through the judicious application of "real politik" and neutrality. Such Godwin's law "you are a LITERAL child laborer and fascist if you use a LLM" tier arguments are unlikely to convince said project to change its ways.

Bitlocker with a password has always felt like a second class citizen to me. You have to dig into a bunch of group policies to use it. Maybe most people don't even realize it exists.

EA takes in-game advertising too far with Battlefield 2142 (Oct 18th, 2006)
A while ago, EA told everyone how they could keep prices down by putting in-game advertising in their games. When the advertisements are subtle, with things such as billboards, then there is really no issue. However, BattleField 2142 takes in-game advertising to the next level. EA notifies anyone who bought the full retail version of their latest game on the package that "When you use the software while connected to the Internet, the advertising technology may record your IP address and other anonymous information." This means that the advertising delivers in game advertising according to your tastes, not unlike spyware.

To add insult to injury the new Element X app on mobile is in some ways a downgrade because they integrated the cloud vendor push notification services into the app, so even though you have "sovereign" and "self-hosted" infrastructure you're still, on a good day, leaking meta-data about your chats back through to the people you were trying to decouple yourself from anyway. You can run your own push notification services for this mostly if you want and all your mobile clients are Android but like, why.
Probably because this is literally the only way to make notifications work reliably on mass market Android and iOS devices? It is no different from Signal or any other secure messenger on the market. Decoupling from these platforms is a story for another day.
That's a nice thought but how does it work in practice? Every time I sign up for a new service I have to dig up my "backup device" from the safe just to enroll it?
Google Authenticator used to be this way: no backup and restore, as if I'm going to spend a day setting up dozens of TOTP codes again and again every time I change phones. Thankfully, sanity has prevailed since then.
