I'm currently working on app that allows you to pay all your bills in a single click.

As the guy who pays all the bills in the house I have like 7+ bills to pay in a single time. I hate to pay it 1 by 1 so I created the app to solve that problem.

I’m working on https://www.logname.dev . It’s basically a place for me to keep my resume and generate it on the fly. It also have a portfolio website that shows more info than a typical Linkedin profile.

Hi everyone,

My name is Hazmi and I love to build website on my free time. For my first project of the year I would like to tackle a problem that I had for a long time which is keeping my professional portfolio and resume up to date.

Introducing Logname - https://www.logname.dev - A portfolio/resume website for developers.

Why am I building this?

1. There is not one website for me to represent my professional developer presence. As a developer, I always think that you need to have an online presence in order to stand out for better job opportunity.

Having LinkedIn account is not enough and that is why I also post technical blog on Dev.to.

I also have active GitHub account where I pinned the project that best represent my skill set.

So as you can see my past experience(LinkedIn), blog posts(Dev) and active projects(GitHub) are all on a separate website.

If I want to apply for a job I have to provide 3 links. I also need to make sure all 3 are updated accordingly for example if I want to change my profile picture.

Hopefully if Logname takes off in the future, I only need to provide 1 url instead of 3.

2. I hate LinkedIn walled garden. I have to admit I open LinkedIn on a daily basis and it is a great website to build networks.

But I hate that I cannot easily access my own data using API. I get it if they don't want 3rd party application to abuse the API but at the very least I should be able to get my own data to do what I want.

I got an idea last time to export my LinkedIn data to reusable format so I can create my own resume but unfortunately that is not allowed.

With Logname, you can export it into `JSON Resume` format so that you are free to do whatever you want with it.

It is your data after all!.

3. I am bad at designing resume. If I were good at designing I probably will not become a developer in the first place. I know there is a lot of website that can help me build beautiful resume but resume is not a one size fit all solution.

A resume for developer is different than a resume for a civil engineer. I still need to do some manual work and if I want to use another resume generator? I need to do the manual work again.

4. Keeping my resume up to date. Although most of my info are the same provided I am in the same company, some do change for example my list of projects in the resume. Project in my resume always correspond to my GitHub pinned repository to provide consistency and if that change, I also need to update my resume.

With Logname, because you can connect your GitHub and Dev account, your resume and portfolio will always be up to date.

So with all the reason above, I decide to built Logname

Not really. I think every person takes note differently and trying to cater to everyone is just impossible.

For example, right now I'm taking notes for customer validation process following the The Mom Test[1] book and existing note taking app is too general for my use case.

That is why I'm also in the mist of developing an app[2] that is solely focus on that particular use case.

I wonder how this would affect the ASMR[1] community. They rely on immersive experience and most of the time at high volume. Now with ads popping up randomly people might not watch it anymore.

For the past month I have been working on a communication tool for remote developers. I like to think of it like Discord but for work.

For context, since the pandemic, my company have been more flexible in term of working remotely. Although we do use tools like Microsoft Teams to communicate with each other, I still feel that there are something missing.

In an office environment, If I have a question for my team members, I can just hop into his desk with my laptop and have a chat. This sort of interaction is a bit hard to replicate online with existing tool. I think because the act of "calling" someone makes it a barrier to have this sort of small chats. That's why I created https://www.inoffice.chat.

What makes Inoffice different is that there is no "call" concept. If you see someone you want to talk to you can just hop into his "desk" and start talking. You can also see who your other team member are talking to and join in if you want.

I'm hoping by reducing the barrier of initiating a conversation with your team member, it can promote you to talk more with your team members.

I wish I can turn my side-project into full time. Even though I tried but unfortunately non of my side-project have ever made any money. That is also why I think I always abandon my side-project too quickly.

Now I'm just focusing on building my side project[1] for fun without paying too much attention on how it will generate revenue. Hopefully this will make the project last longer since I won't get demotivated if I don't generate any revenue.

I had the same problem and so I created a website to make it easy for you to talk with your colleague.

The idea is that you can see who is around and just jump into a conversation without calling.

Hi everyone, My company has allowed us to work remotely since the pandemic and although it's great but I do miss the office small talks I used to have with my colleague. The asynchronous nature of tools like Teams and Slack makes it unsuited for small conversations so after a 2 days hack I created https://www.inoffice.chat.

There are some things that make it different from other solutions.

- It is voice only. The reason for this is because I believe voice is less intrusive than video and not everyone is on their best looks when working remotely.

- No calling concept, you can just click a button and voice chat instantly. I want to make the process of talking to your colleague as friction less as possible.

- See who is talking with who and join instantly. Just like in real office, I'm hoping this would encourage you to talk more with your colleague. I hope you guys give it a try. Thanks!

Before I know about WebRTC I always thought you need to spent enormous amount of time and money to built a video chat system. Turns out I was able to implement my idea in less than 3 days with WebRTC.

Another weekend another project. Since the movement control order, all the supermarket are imposing a limit of customer in store. This can lead to a long queue which is not ideal to anyone.

So introducing https://tempah.herokuapp.com . A website that allow supermarket customer to reserve a slot based on time for supermarket.

The customer can reserved a slot and a QR code will be generated for them. The supermarket can then scan the QR code to confirm the reservation.

Hello fellow HN, since my country is imposing restriction of movement, I thought I hack something that allow people to chat with other people based on location.

Most location chat are based on your radius but I prefer to chat based on the address instead.

So I created Lepak, a website that allows you to chat based on your city, county, state, country.

It is a 2 day hack so sorry if the website is buggy(especially the UI on mobile).

I have been involved in a project that uses confluence to keep a software documentation. As the project develops in each version, keeping and viewing the documentation has become a hassle to a point that we append the date to the title to know which documentation is the latest one. So that got me thinking that maybe we can use Git to solve the versioning issue.

Eventhough Github and other version control website can already render markdown pages, but I need something that 1. Can render UML diagram 2. Can handle version link.

After a few weeks of hacking this is the result. A website that can convert a Github repo into a software documentation website. It still in it's early stages but you can try out the demo :D
