Facebook provides a lot of public info (profile pic, first name and last name) that would otherwise be really annoying for the user to type in. Of course, to each his/her own.

Django-Piston is not longer being worked on. It may be risky to use a tool that isn't being regularly maintained.

This is really cool, a nice style touch would be to be able to see what happening "this week" or "this weekend". If you sign in and your facebook event is set to private or closed does it aggregate it?

I was thinking of allowing users to login with an already established social network like Twitter or Facebook. Im not sure how I would integrate it with wordpress/tumblr/posterous. Any suggestions?

A potential way to make money is to allow people to map out their trip before hand. Airline companies and travel agencies would surely be interested in offering coupons for potential travelers.
