Instead, I installed CalyxOS and have been using it over a year now and I'm very happy with it. Check it out.
Not sure if anyone has seen this but if I login as <user><domain>@gmail.com with my <user>@<domain> password it logs me into my Domain account. I wonder if they are preparing to roll out a tool where you can convert your Domain account over to a gmail account.
Why would hundreds of thousands of flats be vacant? 1M+ infections won't translate to hundreds and thousands of deaths.
I've never learned to solder and I bet my 10 year old would love to learn with me. I'm gonna get those kits. Thanks!

Came here to say 6Music too. It's an absolute goldmine and I've discovered some great stuff on there (Nils Frahm, Hannah Peel, Anna Meridith, Erland Cooper, Big Thief). I'm more into contemporary instrumental stuff these days but enjoy other genres, too.
I usually listen to Mary-Anne Hobbs, Tom Ravenscroft, Guy Garvey, Cillian Murphy whenever he's on. Which DJs do you recommend on there?

Have you tried buyapi.ca You can buy the individual pieces that you need without being forced into buying extra crap.
Not sure if it's because I run the beta version but I have the search feature in individual conversations and use it often. There is a desktop app and I agree it's not the best. The desktop app is the only place I've had the retrieving messages issue. So really the only gripe I see you having is no decent non-phone client. For me that's not a show stopper at this point in exchange for a secure, easy to use application.
The nice thing about the mobile version is that you can add uBlock there too. I switched to Firefox a couple years ago and haven't looked back. Also have been DuckDuckGo for about a year and last year I switched my email over to Fastmail. Funny because I used to be the biggest Google Fanboy a few years back.
I recently discovered lichess in the past couple of weeks and LOVE it. I've even gone as far as to donate to them. I played a lot of chess as a kid and I've been getting back into it. Hit me up for a game - usuallymatt
I'd suggest not mailing the same mistake again. Go elsewhere for your email. I switched my domain to a paid provider recently and really like it. As much as an @duck.com address would be cool and I'd use it as a 2nd email, I wouldn't want it as my primary.
Can't you just use old.reddit.com ?
I've been considering a switch to Fastmail myself and I have a domain on their free trial right now. I'm going to be pulling the trigger end of this month. Only thing that sucks is going and changing my email address everywhere. Like you I'm doing it for piece of mind knowing I can switch providers elsewhere if I need to down the line. I'd rather pay $50US each year then be as tangled up in Google's services as I was.
Mileage varies depending on where you live. I really like the idea of OSM and have tried it on and off for years but it's abysmal for my city. Post code searches come up wrong and my own home address places the map marker the other side of town from my house. Google Maps has been accurate every time I've used it and I've never had any issues. I can't really trust OSM as an accurate source over Google Maps right now but hopefully it improves as time goes on. I really hope it does. I have tried to use open source solutions a lot in my life but I can't with Maps right now.

This might sound ignorant but I really don't get it. I realised a smart phone was eating up my time so I weened myself off a lot of social media and uninstalled a bunch of apps and haven't looked back. I use Signal and Whatsapp to talk to a few friends, listen to music and read the news. Thats about it.
I've been using telescope.surf on and off since it first launched. I really love it and it renders rather well on Firefox for Android.

Same. I was a kool-aid drinking Google fanboy but started looking elsewhere a couple years ago. I found myself using Google products just because they were Google. Part brand loyalty and also it was nice to just have one account for everything. After a while I admitted to myself that there were better products. Deezer is awesome and I like it much better than Google Music, I've been on Firefox for a year now and much prefer it to Chrome (tried switching back just to see if Chrome had made any changes and I was back on Firefox in 24 hours). I prefer Simplenote to Keep and, other than my one spreadsheet in Google Docs I use Libre Office locally for my other docs/sheets.
The other thing I've noticed is how fickle Google is with their products, either not advancing them or straight up killing them. I used to use Listen for Podcasts and Reader for RSS and got disheartened when those were killed off. Dropbox is my latest switch, hell I even use DuckDuckGo more these days, too. The only Google products I can see myself using long term are Gmail (with my Google Apps Domain account) and Photos. Also, Maps is still the best Maps software. Other than that I don't use their services much at all these days.
I'm in the same boat as that guy and I donate to Wikipedia every year. I love the service. I'd happily pay Dropbox for 100GB. Instead I did a bunch of referrals and I now have 18.5GB which more than enough suits my needs.
This is great for me. I use dropbox for my personal files these days instead of GDrive because there's no native linux client for Gdrive. There are some 3rd party ones but they're not that great. I've also been moving away from Google Docs and now the only thing I have in my GDrive is a financial sheet for budgeting that I like to access from my phone. I'll probably store it on Dropbox now.
The Beatles are not exclusive to iTunes. I can access a tonne of their albums on Deezer.
They'll still cooperate but they'll have much less data to provide.
Same for me. I read stuff like this and always picture it happening to my kids. It somehow makes it worse in this instance that it's a complete accident that no one could have done anything to prevent it. I'm much more sensitive and squeamish since having kids.
