Not always, especially when law enforcement can request data straight from the provider, which I would imagine happens in the majority of internet crime investigations. Because let's be real, how many internet companies have a zero knowledge policy towards their users' data?

These are anonymous government sources. Can we really expect them to tell the truth? It seems more likely that these officials are exploiting the general public's lack of knowledge on this issue to turn them against Snowden and the journalists.

When a user opens a URL with the tel scheme in a native app, iOS does not display an alert and initiates dialing without further prompting the user.

What is the justification for this behavior? Why should the web browser open a prompt but not other apps?
