I was looking into Posteo a while back but was turned off by the recycling of addresses. After leaving the service it's available to anyone after a fixed time.

I've settled with this one because it's really fast and preloads images, which makes looking through thousands of time-lapse photos a doable task, just holding the arrow key.I'd like a bit more editing capabilities but I understand it might be out of scope for a minimal image viewer.

I use Obsidian myself, which simply stores text in Markdown files. It essentially shares all the pros of plain text: it'll be readable in the future, I'm not stuck with a single platform, I can sync and sort them into directories.

Agree, I feel like there must be a better way to achieve what Flatpak does. I love it because it's the only major app platform on Linux that offers some form of sandboxing, but the download sizes get ridiculously large.

Most of the time the built-in emoji search works for me. Discord, Telegram etc. can show emojis by just putting the keyword between colons, iirc KDE, Gnome, Windows all have an emoji picker with search (Win + .)

It's nice to see that they changed their stance on MicroG and signature spoofing, IMO they were a bit too hesitant against it. It's implemented in a safe way fortunately, so that only MicroG can use the permission.

I've noticed the same and it's really frustrating, it just straight up redirects to the login page sometimes. I guess I'll have to accept the fact that it's closing down, visitors are not welcome. Can't view a single post or picture in the future but so be it.

It's specifically asking to access all the Google sites with a different tld, a far better approach than asking to access every website with a single permission

Plowing the cycle paths is really important, since a thick layer of snow is really the only thing stopping me from getting my bike. I don't necessarily need winter tyres either since the traction can be pretty good on a maintained path.

Thanks, that makes sense. In my town the usage of either one is so marginal I don't think it matters which I use. And even if I decided to visit the nearest city and start from scratch with KartaView, more recent data wouldn't obviously hurt. And I've got time hah.

As I'm just a beginner I don't think a 360 camera is worth it just yet, they are quite expensive compared to regular ones. And I can imagine putting it on my helmet would get some attention from bypassers, unlike a normal camera mounted on the handlebar.

I've been thinking of recording imagery too with an action camera, using a phone for that purpose hasn't been too good in my experience because it's shaky, especially on forest trails.

Also what do you think of KartaView? I'm not sure whether to trust the Meta owned Mapillary, even though the current data has an open license.

I'm not a big fan of Spotify but they have the largest collection of curated high-quality music others can't provide. Combined with the easy last.fm scrobbling, I've decided to keep it despite the increased price. Though their UX kinda sucks and lot of individual songs or even albums go randomly missing, which is annoying.

Youtube has practically everything but old uploads are sometimes so bad you can hear the compression and noise. And the rest of the streaming services don't have as much music, which means more downloading, tagging, organizing and storage needed for me.

Weird since OpenStreetMap does have an inscription=* key, which could be combined with the historic=memorial and memorial=bench tags. So what the site does could very well be achieved with OpenStreetMap alone.

It's great and I use it on mobile as well, but the lack of cosmetic filtering still makes uBlock Origin a winner. Can't really implement that with anything except extensions.

Running Win11 Enterprise myself, I just disable annoying things from group policies and settings, then uninstall bloat with Winget. Clean enough for me and nothing breaks.

Looks like they don't so that in the EU, probably because it'd be illegal. I recently deleted my account and the process was fairly painless, just a click of a button and a 30 day wait.

Edit: Just a note though, I had no money or purchases in the account, and I don't know if that affects the process.
