What is the easiest way to setup a discord alternative based on Matrix these days?

Went to a summit recently where all of the sponsors that had "AI enhanced yada yada" looked all the same. If I didn't know what the company was doing, then there was no differentiator at all.

Great dive into hardware hacking, this time a convoluted process of upgrading the RAM on a Honda infotainment system from 1GB to 2GB to rectify a very common crashing issue these devices have when using CarPlay or performing other demanding tasks.

I run USB-C with one cable to a Thunderbolt4 dock station (ThinkPad Hybrid USB-C with USB-A Dock) running two high-res screens from my Macbook Air M2 + all other accessories.

Plug in one cable and I'm done.

Note: Most docking hubs only support a feature of DisplayPort called MST to run two monitors off a single connection. The USB-C connection to the hub is using something called Alt Mode to carry the video signal using DisplayPort protocol. MacOS only supports MST in mirror mode over USB. It needs to be Thunderbolt for full MST support with dual, unique displays.

Most of us should probably be on appetite suppressors due to the industrial revolution making food more than abundant while pumping it full of empty calories.

In 2019 when working for a cloud consultancy they paid us to certify for Google cloud with the promise of many new customers. In reality since then the consultancy fired all pure Google cloud consultants. I myself have had about three Google cloud only focused projects. A lot of promises but nothing came out of it.

It doesn't help that the platform has stagnated and customers are afraid of committing due to loss of features. In comparison AWS doesn't remove features for customers or always provide alternative ways to migrate to. SimpleDb is the prime example here.

From a non-tech perspective, IKEA, as a private company, shares a similar focus with Bell Labs on enhancing individual components to improve the overall system.

That was a great read into a part of retro computing that I haven't seen before.

I was contemplating to upgrade to Windows 11 but I took the plunge and moved to Linux instead. No issues whatsoever - the games I play work with Steam compatability mode or just natively. The work I do is mostly in the browser.

I'm surprised that so many go for Debian even for desktop. Might just give it a try as I am used to it from the server side.

My list of requirements is non-existent except that it would be nice to easily out of the box be able to play games and have a tiling window manager.

I come from Windows10 so, no real demands or philosophical needs about the OS other than that it would be nice to avoid ads in the OS as much as possible.

Anyone done a migration from Core to Scale and lived to tell the tale?

I think I want less bureaucracy in my development so happy to see multiple versions and letting them battling them out

I would love to see old load-bars instead as well.

Children start with yourself. You will not ever be a perfect parent, so be kind to yourself and your partner. I know I've failed multiple times, but I at least try to live by the Reggio Emilia [1] approach:

The most important thing is to listen to your children and understand their needs, interests and ideas, and use them as the basis for learning and exploration. It is so much easier to foster them when you focus on their interests.

Recognize real accomplishments, document them and reflect on them with the children. Sometimes we just look at their first steps together.

We also have tried to create an environment where they can fail until they learn. As we say in the business "Fail fast" and encourage their independence by providing opportunities for them to make choices, solve problems, and take initiative. Even if the choice is "Do you want to eat carrots or broccoli with your dinner today?".

One thing that I need to improve on is to create opportunities our kids to interact with others (mostly due to Covid/the pandemic). Now that they are in preschool we see that they learn so much faster from others in their own age.

Etho is a known name in the Minecraft community (he created one of the first and simplest clocks in game).

He is now exploring how to create a 16-color, 297 single pixel display utilizing a custom in-game built CPU, RAM, storage. All this in a many-year long vanilla survivor Minecraft world.

It is nice to follow along with his problem-solving using in-game tooling and limitations.

Lopez-Alt recently released a book about wooks [1] where this is mentioned and in my experience it works well for getting the wook-taste and smell.
