It’s at a 2004 resolution at sub 2004 FPS and the title is clickbait claiming it “runs”, sorry but 28 FPS isn’t considered playable in my book. I’m just not as impressed by that as people pretend I should be. They should have waited and at least gotten a solid 60 before this should’ve been shown off. The sad state of the Apple (and Microsoft too) reverse engineering scene has been obliterated by lawsuits and this whole Asahi Linux thing is a fluke that someone hadn’t got shut down yet. It actually saddens me what shambles the Apple RE’ing scene is for it to be taking this long to achieve only this meager level of support. Seemingly only 2 or 3 people in the world are working on this? For the most powerful laptops in the world?

There should be a way to decouple the UX from the program and if people want a Discord “skin” for IRC that looks nearly 1:1 they should be able to have that.

If someone independently invents something using the available resources at hand it shouldn’t be able to be considered classified or copyright restricted, if it was really that advanced and sophisticated then nobody should be able to discover it unless it leaks. If there’s no proof it leaked to the public in violation of a government employee’s oath then the information should be legal. In that case I agree anyone who leaks classified documents should be charged for treason. But there’s a major difference between a software developer accidentally inventing a banned algorithm and getting slammed with the full force of the government and secret information the government has being leaked.

Why are developers still limiting themselves by posting their code on the clearweb in a manner they can be traced and held liable for? Host everything on Tor from a server outside USA jurisdiction and this should be a total non issue. Code is speech. It’s time to stop letting the government get away with trampling on our 1st amendment rights to free speech.

Its a highly illegal felony, yes. but take into account the value of a human life is low as $226 in some countries. These operators are in foreign countries and dont care.

People can still get your ip and ddos you on discord. its just a little expensive. theres a forum where you can pay $500 for someone to send an EDR to Discord from a police email. Also there was a file attatchment bug in the wild that leaked your ip as recently as 6 months ago which im not sure was even fixed. A guy I befriended in a hacking community proved it to me.

Who gets to pay for all the extra traffic they send? the time spent by security guys to review the false positive attack logs they generate? the time spent by operators to bring the services back online when the government probing crashes something?

Does the community really know that all it takes to take away another user's posting privileges is to flag their posts and complain to you a few times from fake accounts? I doubt it, but thanks for confirming that's how the process works.

Of course, why would government operatives need a backdoor or even bother sending you secret takedown requests when the process to silence any user is way easier than anyone had imagined? just proxy up a few fake accounts on residential IPs to flag the post and then complain to you a few times!

Furthermore, if all it takes for you to take away someone's posting permissions is a few flags/complaints (That anyone with a bot farm who operates multiple accounts can submit) you should really grow a fucking spine. Thanks for confirming that government operatives can infact silence any user here, just the mechanism is a little different than I originally hypothesized, instead of having a backdoor throttling permissions all they need is a few proxy accounts instead, amazing!

Well that's a convenient explanation. But doesn't make any sense. On the day I "lost my submission privileges" I hadn't posted any Ask HN which had been flagged or could even be remotely considered unsubstantiated for at least 11 days. I already stopped talking about those topics entirely. (Not that I believe any of my posts were unsubstantiated, as they all affect internet users and the future of the internet at large) I lost it directly after posting a story critical of the US government(which got 80 points) and then was retroactively punished for posts I made in the past. Is that how this works? When you want to take someone out you look through their history for something they submitted weeks ago in the past and use it as your justification to ban them in the present?

Thanks for your suggestion. The reason why Ive commented about it isnt because I have a persecution fantasy, but because the community deserves to know this is going on and if anyones similarly been affected that they arent alone.

You're wrong, it's not obvious at all. Users here really do get shadowbanned from posting ALL links including ask HN posts. I know this for a fact because I'm one of them.

Im able to post but it doesnt appear for other users. the link appears on my profile when Im signed in but others cant see it. the posts dont have a "discuss" button or unique url at all. I havent asked yet, but the timing does seem awful fishy, immediately after posting a popular controversial submission.

They also shadowban your whole account from posting submissions entirely. After posting a controversial story about the former world chess champion being tortured in an American jail I am not allowed to post any link anymore period.

The only way to have a semblance of free expression on the modern internet is using Tor,cryptocurrency,and offshore hosting to protect your identity from these overzealous legal firms.

This can be accomplished on Windows11 with a custom Visual Style. Ive seen it done before on some deviantart themes. Would be cool if someone could release a stock Windows11 Visual Style with only this modified.
