Kramnik should be held accountable for making Danya's life hell the past year. Not blaming him for what has happened but this bullying has to stop. It was clear to me and many others that he started attacking Danya because he was a "Russian boy" who did not defend him when Hikaru mocked Kramnik. I'm really upset now so maybe not making much sense.

I'm heartbroken. It's been a few years since I met him in person but loved watching him on his streams. He was such a ray of light beloved by all. Like others I noted with alarm his appearance and strange behavior the past few months. Hope his family finds peace.

Kramnik went from chess champion who really came up with new lines in the Berlin defense, beating Kasparov at his peak: to now becoming a troll :(

Congrats to Ding but brutal for Nepo. Had a winning position in game 12, and rushed that move in game 14 when Rc3? would have been winning. Winning the candidates tournament twice is such a huge feat, not sure if he can win again to challenge.

I can sympathize. I had a seed fall into my eye while out on a walk and it wouldn't come out. Had to to to the ophthalmologist. She did local drops and took it out with forceps. It was uncomfortable and scary but she did a great job at calming me down and doing it quickly. I do think eye doctors have this kind of thing down and folks needn't worry anymore.

IM checking in. My cousin became a GM while still a teenager. There will come a point sometime in your life (for me that was the ripe old age of 14 or 15) when you realize that you are simply not smart enough to make the cut. When that point come, the best thing to do is bail, play for fun and focus on academics.

Really worried for my parents and other relatives. They are being as safe as possible but the virus is everywhere now and not sure if they will be able to avoid it. What a tragedy that people just didn't mask up and avoid gatherings when the vaccines were so close.

I was one of those 'not so smart' kids that got in. I know this because I struggled mightily once I did get i to maintain a respectable GPA. I think the system is most brutal on middle of the road students like me. If you know you aren't good enough, you get an out. Or if you are really smart you can coast in. The average folks get hosed :)

I went through this in 1998. Went from around 130 or so pounds in grade 10 to 200ish by the time I got into college. Would get up at 2am every day to study and spend every waking minute studying. The only exercise I got was walking around while still reading books. Still struggling with my weight after all these years. The pressure I went through those 2 years was indescribable. Spare a thought for folks who went through all this and didn't even get in.

Not enough evidence in the paper. And does anyone feel like this effect is not real in this year of all years? People were screaming 'fake news', 'fake virus', 'fake election', blah blah with great conviction.
