If I remember correctly, back in the 70's in the US speed limits were lowered to increase fuel efficiency. I think people advocating for increased speed limits or no speed limits at all should at least consider the increase in fuel consumption and pollutant emissions when looking at the pros and cons.

Off topic but I noticed while reading the archive.md article I highlighted some text by accident and noticed that the URL was updated to point to that text, https://archive.md/REmb8#selection-2437.0-2437.5. I've never seen this before. I know Chrome has 'Copy Link to Highlight' but this appears to be different and cross browser compatible. Does someone have any info on how this works? I'm assuming that URL is updated via JavaScript. What about when browsing to the URL? I think this is handy and something I'd like to incorporate into a blog site I'm building.

For the past week, a Venezuelan house painter has been working at my house. He immigrated to the U.S. 3 years ago. He was a police officer that refused to do the governments bidding, so he fled. As did ~500/700 that were in his police academy.

Unrelated, but I hate this growing trend of anonymous service/information providers. If I'm going to give my personal information to an organization and trust its content and potentially pay for a service, I want to know who you are.

So, who is datascience-school besides a location in Singapore? Who are the founders, who else is involved, what are their stories/history and motivations. All of this would lend some credibility to any organization.

And, in the not so distant future after that, it's safe to assume that people will be forced to have chip implants. Why use a camera and ml when you can just tag someone?

There's no reason why a publication can't charge more for an in-depth piece. I'd gladly pay far more for a comprehensive exposé.

We do the same with app subscriptions. I may go a month or 2 not using an app. It's always made me question the subscription model. There are times I won't subscribe where as I would have purchased the app for a one time fee.

If a website wants to display an ad and ONLY display an ad, I'd have no problem with ad supported content. It's what's happening underneath the ad I have a real problem with.

So, ad blocking isn't really about the ad. I could care less if there is an advertisement next to the news article I'm reading. If only the advertisement was served to me and not whatever other b/s underneath the hood, then I wouldn't have a need for an ad blocker. I wish content producers understood this.

To really give a proper recommendation, it would be nice to know more about the interface. Does it need to be a SPA? Really think about this before making a decision and committing to a javascript SPA framework.

The first time we pumped water into our planter, the tube directed a small stream into one spot, completely soaking that area but leaving the rest of the soil dry.

I use irrigation tubing with drip line emitters in my garden. That might be a solution for you. The cool think about the emitters is that they control the flow of water and are easily positioned. I think they start at .5ga/hour on up to 10ga/hour.

I always like to explore contrarian views, but this one doesn't sit well with me. It's as if 'skeptics' use such views to roll back all the progress we've made and to slow progress that's needed. It especially boils my blood when 'skeptics' use their argument to somehow tarnish Earth Day as Earth Day is so much more than global warming.
