I enjoy being "the glue" to IT projects, working across disciplines to ensure they get delivered on time, meet budget and satisfy users. I specialise in modernising legacy applications using modern technologies and frameworks, and have created greenfield applications from scratch.

I speak PHP, Python, JavaScript / TypeScript, and have worked with frameworks like Next.js and FastAPI. My current obsession is headless CMSes (PayloadCMS gets my vote).

Or use PayloadCMS, which is Next but at least you don't need to deal with WordPress.

You need to build your own frontend, but PayloadCMS is my go-to.

Toontown: Corporate Clash is a non-profit, fan-made revival of the defunct Disney MMORPG, Toontown Online, with a brand new storyline, new mechanics and new characters. We get anywhere between 400 and 600 concurrent players on a typical day, and up to 2000 players when a major update launches. Not a job job but I'm hoping to find volunteers who can help us end homelessness in the UK for good.

Crisis is a homelessness charity in the UK. Our flagship event is Crisis at Christmas, where we open homeless shelters during the Christmas period where many other homelessness facilities close and the homeless population face loneliness during the festive period. We provide shelter, warmth, food and drink, activities and entertainment, Internet Cafe, international phone calls, and most importantly advice services to get people out of homelessness for good.

There's a ton of IT that goes on: We need internet connectivity to run our centres (and to provide our clients with Wi-Fi), software to manage everything that goes on in a centre like inventory / incidents / client relationships, making sure we have enough IT supplies like hardware (desktops, tablets and printers), and the list goes on. On top of that, we need a robust service desk to help our (also volunteer) users if they run into issue with IT.

We would appreciate any volunteers in any IT specialities (hardware, software, SRE, VoIP, tech support, etc) in any level (student, starting out or years in the field) to join us and help out with developing and maintaining IT solutions to ensure our event is a success and lift people out of homelessness. As a volunteer at Crisis myself, I've learnt a lot of things I wouldn't have a chance to do in my real job, and that's what makes it interesting to volunteer here.

I made the mistake of chugging 1.5Ls of Coke Zero when it first came out (I was a dumb teenager at the time). The original formula was much gassier than what it is now, and I went through the bottle over the course of maybe half an hour. After I was done I started vomiting and had to be bedbound for days recovering from what feels like food poisoning.

I think it probably would also have happened if I drank the normal stuff but the gassiness of Zero certainly accelerated things.

Exactly. I don't think my company will migrate to Spaces, instead opting to find another solution. But is there even one?
