Thanks for the comment! To clarify, yes blueprints are large. But just like people were happy to give up the inconvenience of fold-up paper maps for google maps, construction folks are almost universally excited to give the inconvenience of cumbersome paper plans for a tablet and an app.

Interestingly, this question is the exact first question PG asked us during our initial YC interview in 2011.

My partner and I squeezed in a 10 day Mediterranean cruise during our 3 month backpacking trip. It was a great way to get back on budget (cost about $40/person/day for room and board + 3 meals) and it was pleasantly fun to get dumped at a new port every morning.

One of our first adopters was Lawrence Berkeley Lab's facilities management team. PlanGrid is for anyone who looks any type of drawings at all, which includes configuration diagrams and technical maintenance data.

Its funny, that construction personnel have this awful stereotype of ignorance and clumsiness, who will break their ipads at first chance.

We construct your buildings, bridges, water treatment plants in sometimes harsh conditions, but still go home safe to our families everyday. We can also hold onto iPads just like everyone else.

3 of us went to school together, 2 of us worked together, 2 of us went to a cello concert, not together. Its one of those tricky GRE math questions.

There are tons of very obvious problems in many industries that are solvable by software. The only problem is that great domain experts and great hackers rarely overlap enough to do a startup together. It was a miracle that the four of us found each other.
