Naive question may be. But if quantum can break bitcoin, won't it also be able to break other encryptions that literally everyone else uses as well? So, it's not that bitcoin is particularly vulnerable right any more than banks and Gmails?
Research anything and everything on your own dime. if it's taxpayer's money, then yes, it has to have at least a probability of profitability.
I am okay if some edge case needs tinkering. As long as every day common use cases just works. There is no distro that even meets that?
Need a suggestion, and thought might as well ask here. I use a Mac now. Last windows was more than 15 years ago and now I want to try Linux. which version would you recommend? should I go with Ubuntu or Debian or Mint or something else? I am not a tinkerer. I want something that just works, on the lines of a Mac.
//Apple TV is available on the Apple TV app
What's confusing about this?
Netflix is available on Netflix App. HBO is available on HBO app. Normal people don't care.
It's perfectly normal for Netflix the company to run Netflix the service on Netflix the app on Netflix device if they release one. It's not confusing at all. What would be confusing is if they all had different names.
Do you have any evidence behind it?
What can be asserted without evidence can also be dismissed without evidence.
I once thought I wouldn't need a mobile phone and that landlines were sufficient.
the biggest problem with switching away from Mac is losing the ecosystem benefits. When Apple TV automatically knows to fill your iCloud password, all the Apple Watch integration, syncing everything from notes to reminders. I can't see how any Linux can match all that.
Should be obvious, but ability to function triumphs ability to be 'creative'. Hell with creativity in fact. It comes last in the list of priorities..
//Have you tried to use Windows lately?
I haven't. When I read that I was wondering if you were going to say it got better and is good now or something. Oh well. Good to know. Thanks for the info.
When someone asks how something is fair - coming back with life is like that or life isn't fair is not a valid response. Humanity should strive to make the systems as fair as possible while accepting the fact that unfairness will still exist. Why will theft etc be a crime if not for the idea of fairness. You can make the same life is unfair argument to defend theft but that's not the way it should be / is.
Not related to this post, but why in the world is anyone using TUI. Either go with GUI or go with commandline. This no man's land in the middle is the worst of both worlds..
It's not about whether consumers like interoperability or not.
If scenario-1 - is no interoperability but superior user experience]
scenario-2 - is interoperability with subpar user experience
there are those that would rather have the former than the latter. Pretty sure Apple can provide a better user experience without the constraint of interoperability than otherwise.
I just realized ADP is not same as Lockdown mode. which Apple mentioned that only people that are likely to be targets need to turn on.
Now I don't see any reason why I shouldn't turn ADP on. Turning on now.
Ok, I am not very technical. Can someone help me understand this. I don't have Advanced data Protection on. Does that mean UK Gov can see my data now?
that AGI, instead of benefitting the whole world, in which Musk is a part of, will end up only benefitting Microsoft, which he isn't a part of?
I am getting conflicting opinions on this, so I will ask. My company has filed a 485 for me (currently on H1) and my wife is a dependent. My wife is currently on O1 and her company wants to file a separate 485 for her (with me as dependent) for backup. But my company's attorneys are telling me that's not recommended and it's better to withdraw one before filing another. Is that so or can 2 485s be filed?
//They are famous for protecting their walled garden and hostility towards cross platform development tools.
Trying to deconstruct this to understand better.
2 possibilities.
1. Supporting cross platform development tools is actually in Apple's interest/business and they are being stupid not to support them. But so far it doesn't seem like they are losing anything by not supporting it going by their financials.
2. Supporting cross platform development tools is not in their interest - in which case they are doing the right thing by doing what's good for their business.
So, where is the disconnect?
Please if someone from Apple is listening: Please pay some attention to Indian music as well. I mostly only listen to Tamil songs and when Apple came out with iTunes Match or something where they analyze your library and match it to what they have in cloud, they just incorrectly matched songs with the Telugu version and ones from other languages and totally messed up my collection. And, this day and age, why should all Indian music be clubbed under "Foreign" genre by default?
It's like weapons policy. If country A is going to have them country B will be foolish not to have them.
I don't have much to add on the reading issue, but huge respect for "I've gone back to school into a medical degree." at 45
Agree 100%. One needs help for sure, but help doesn't mean therapist. It's someone who cares, parents / sibling / spouse / cousins some family or close friends who truly care. Don't be alone
They are running a store here. Maintaining order helps everyone. given the popularity of App Store, there will invariably be some that are inclined to price their apps at 420.69 or 42.24 or what not and avoiding that and making the prices show some consistency does help the store.
//Why would they want to help him?
Oh let me think. Because they like democrats and he donated to democrats?
//but I operate linux servers, I support mac engineers, and I provide service to windows clients
obviously that's not normal use case for a normal person and not being able to do that wouldn't even be in anyone's wildest radar.
The devil's in the details. 2m doesn't convey much. 2m in what? 401k? Then it's inaccessible until 60. If not, then all earnings are going to be taxed and need to account for that. And is that 2m including primary residence or excluding primary residence? Also need to bring in mortgage into consideration..and if you do retire, given that health is tied to work in US that adds extra complexity..
Pretty sure once you hit 2m it will then be 10m :)
So, when majority of the people support one political party that's called eroding democracy?
if news were what it should be, then yes. But given that news is what's being presented as news today, it does more harm than good.
