I think that could be solved by having a button to mark something as watched, removing it from recommendations and the catalog other than the list of things you watched.

You could hide episodes you've seen or entire seasons up to entire shows. Would fix a lot of the issues I'm having.

I don't think encryption hinders the true ideas of the web, it merely blocks malicious actors, of which there are many in almost all areas and connections.

The entire set of encryption can be easily opened up for inspection and manipulation if all parties agree this is good idea.

The resolver is less of an issue because you have free choices there, ISP is harder to change. Plus you increase the number of parties that need to collude (ISP + RR provider) to spy on your traffic.

This is sorta it. SNI is the only unecrypted part that leaks the server hostname. CN/SAN blocking usually has a middlebox that decrypts the connections so there is nothing to be done here.

If somebody can MitM your encrypted connection to both server and DNS, encrypted SNI stops working to my understanding.

This is amazing work, can't wait for this to be finished and deployed on the internet. Together with encrypted DNS (DoT and DoH) we finally get fully confidential connections to a server without leaking anything other than Remote IP.

It appears to be brighter because LED parts occupy a different spectrum. Sodium lamps only light up in a very narrow orange spectrum of light (you can't even tell colors under sodium lights). This spectrum is great under photopic vision (ie Daytime Vision) but terrible under nighttime vision. (~0.8 relative brightness vs ~0.1 brightness)

LED lights used for street illumination use a part of the spectrum that is much more visible during both day and night vision.

There is of course also a tradeoff because making a lamp more visible and thus allow safer driving, it will disrupt the circadian rhythm much greater.

It is certainly possible that the illumination is exactly the same but the wavelength of light outputted is different and you're much more sensitive to it.

However, the raid is still out of bounds in certain other aspects (though I suspect the "take everything" the police pulled is more related to the officers having no idea what a server is vs a desktop computer. It wouldn't be the first time police officers simply don't know so they take it all)

Security and privacy aren't binary options, it's a multi-dimensional spectrum where the optimal point depends on your threat model, budget and other factors. For me, it's not relevant if the police finds out if I use protonmail.

Honest and good registrars don't have a problem with WHOIS services, you claim they would since the emails they forward could lead to lost sales.

The WHOIS service is just as incentivized to filter out certain mails since they are paid by the registrar and thus get profit of sold domains.

You cannot learn to make a secure lock if you don't know how to pick a lock.

Similarly, you can't build a secure system if you don't know how you'd crack a secure system.

Of course, you don't have to really know exactly which tools to use but you'd still have to know the common methods of attack, how they work, what type of tools people might use.

Once you know that, you can take steps to defeat the tools and workarounds.

Well, even an UG (Hb) needs a business address which you will have to put in the imprint and to my knowledge you can't put a PO box as business address in the register.

There is no reason that domain providers will be incapable of providing a contact point and you were always able to put a separate email inbox on WHOIS.

But there is no need for a full postal address of real email addresses that people might use for personal contacts or a real name. That just leads to more abuse.

Same for phone numbers.

The imprint requires an address that permits receiving legal notices (ladungsfähig), ie, an Address where you as a person can be found.

There is financial security for me. I don't have to worry about not being able to pay my hospital bill. I won't have to file for bankruptcy because I'm unable to pay because that doesn't happen.

I don't think Trump and elite-oriented capitalism as you call it, align well with Nietzsche. I don't think if Nietzsche was alive, he'd speak well of Trump either.

Though it would be easy to think, the last man, as Nietzsche describes them, are people who above all want everyone in society to be happy and without pain, being equal and without hardship. The Übermensch, the opposite, is someone or a society which constantly works to learn something new, to "can do", to enrich oneself and attempt to go beyond their own limitations.

I think my Ethics teacher put it "trying to interpret master/slave morality or the Übermensch as a political instrument is misguided at best, harmful at worst".

Nietzsche himself, to my knowledge, has hinted at his dislike for capitalism, communism or socialism, money or work. But part of his musings are that these are merely subjective standpoints and that there is no objectively right option here.

In summary, you could probably say that Nietzsche wasn't against elite-oriented capitalism in the sense that he did not reject it as viewpoint, it's subjective so it's a correct option.

There is simply no evidence that we have purpose. That someone made us for something special. Or that we are the center of anything.

Compared to the vastness of the universe, we are utterly insignificant. The tiniest of slivers of earth is hospitable to us, go up or down by more than a few kilometers and you need machines to survive. Even Earth itself, the rock we stand on, is not hospitable to life in majority.

That is not a grand conspiracy from the powers above, they are bound to the same insignificance. However bad a politician may be, how much evil they commit, does not objectively matter. The universe at large does not care.

However, as Nietzsche does lay out, this does not mean there is no meaning to life or joy. Rather, the universe will not provide you with a meaning to life. Or purpose. You have to create purpose and meaning yourself. Recognize that every human on this planet must create meaning, purpose, morals, ethics and so many other things for themselves and themselves only.

We tried many approaches.

Nuclear has amazing power ratios but detonating a nuclear warhead to get moving is somewhat of a problem when you're close to earth.

Fission Heat Engines are quite good but not good enough for takeoff. Ion engines suffer the same fate.

Almost no alternative propulsion method can replace takeoff boosters, thusly limiting the mass you can put into space. With limited mass you can only make engines that big. Or bigger if you assemble them in space which opens other cans of worms.

I perform hourly backups of my VPS and personal computers, storing it all into a giant repo on OVH and B2. If my house goes up in flames, I have to redo, at worst, 1 hour of work.

Additionally I won't have to deal with expanding to a 4TB drive eventually.
