This reminds me when I was playing Oblivion on Xbox 360 and there was a bug to get a ton of money from a specific NPC. It completely ruined the game for me by removing all motivations and rewards to participate in the economy through looting, stealing, and selling.

Many municipalities have gotten waivers for police & rescue to use drones. I don't see why the fire department would have any issues in getting clearance to ultimately help save the lives of firefighters & fire victims.

Once you go stock Android, you never go back. I love my Nexus 7 and the frequent, direct OTA updates from Google. My AT&T Samsung Galaxy S2 got an update in the last month that turned it into a freezing, battery-draining, glitchy machine with no patch to fix it in site. I will never buy a non-stock Android phone again.

Interesting hack, definitely some potential around socially aware devices. But that is a terribly horrible title for the post, it's misleading and probably makes more people not want to click through to read more who otherwise might be interested in open hardware or using the social graph in hardware.

I'm trying to understand...is it the scale you plan to be at makes Twilio/Tropo not affordable? Because if SMS/Voice is really core to what you're doing, you can roll your own infrastructure. Or go with Twilio's ever-decreasing pricing structure.

I have worked in this space as well, as a recruiter for full-time roles and now account manager for contract staffing. The biggest thing is getting to know your candidates and understanding their goals, desires, and path. There are so many recruiters who are in the game because they aren't good enough for sales or not really qualified for much else. This gives the industry a bad name. Not a lot of people go through college with the dream of being a recruiter, but many end up there for lack of other options.

Changing the recruitment game is hard because there are so many little IT shops popping up with the low barriers to entry, looking to be a middleman and grab their piece of the pie. They see a $10-15/hr margin in contract staffing and think, wow, this is easy money by just submitting a resume. Of course, these small contract staffing recruitment shops often have offshore recruiters because you pay them 1/5 of what a U.S. based entry level recruiter would make.

I am currently on the path of teaching web development to myself so I can implement my own ideas on small scale rather than relying on finding a willing technical partner. It's rewarding on it's own and gives me a little more insight into the technical world.

In my stats class in school, I volunteered for the coke vs. pepsi blind taste test. I had to guess which was which, and I was right 9/10 trials. Teacher was a bit shocked at that, calling me an outlier.

If you have a revolutionary idea that could really change politics and you're keeping it for that perfect moment when everything in your life aligns, it's foolish. If the idea has merit, let someone with the time and passion work on bringing it to life and show the impact.

Going to your grave with a pocketful of possibilities is not only a disservice to yourself, but also pretty selfish.

This is a great example of why the U.S. needs startup visas (without $1 million requirement) to keep and encourage entrepreneurship in the U.S. and generate jobs + tax revenue.

I've always wondered why Southwest or some Airline startup couldn't take a 737, add second deck of passenger seating in the lower half of plane, where luggage goes, add HVAC, exits, etc. then make everyone carry on 1 luggage for commuter / weekend flights.
