Also usually firewalls are not decreasing packets IP TTL which make them invisble to traceroute.

You are lucky this one does not.

I often use ENC28J60 chips which are converting SPI <=> 10Base-T, they are very fun to work with and not so expensive ($4).

But reading (https://qdiv.dev/posts/eth-to-spi/) about somebody that made that chip from basic components is really awesome.

Hopefully one day DPDK will be ported to OpenBSD. Altough I think OpenBSD also lack proper network card documentation.

There was this interesting talk [1] about how this ISP uses OpenBSD as BGP control plane.

I used to heard that OpenBSD was often used as Internet facing middlebox (like firewalls/proxy/network load balancer) because of how good pf and relayd are.

But it would surprise me if it would still be the case nowadays, OpenBSD seems to perform poorly [2] in terms of network throughput compared to the competition (VyOS/VPP). And I don't think this 7.5 upgrade helped a lot regarding this topic.

I really like sxmo, unfortunately I have the classic pinephone and even with an environment as minimalist as sxmo, the battery is draining really fast. This is the only thing that is preventing me from using the pinephone as a daily driver...

There are almost 200k IP in that file. Would it not cause a performance issue for your OS to have that many routes to lookup ? Even if it is still way better than using iptable.

They deserve all the money they will get from their game. I am really happy for them, they allowed us to play DF for free for so long that I would not be mad if the sell price on steam was higher. DF is an awesome game and I hope they continue to improve it and to add content.

I wish the enemies would be able to destroy walls in DF like they do in Rimworld.

I really love DF but at some point, I know that I can surrender my fortress with walls and only let a small entrance with a labyrinth of traps that the pathfinding will lead enemies to.

In Rimworld such strategy is not very effective since some enemies will dig into your base walls.

I have hard time understanding how mikedamm@twitter claimed so many /8.
