I have to admit that I'm not familiar with this problem. I mean, I understand if we're taking about those forms where you get 20 minutes of half an hour, but it seems to me that you are talking about those cases where you get a few days or a week.

This makes me think you might be in that small space where you are a decent programmer, but still don't have enough experience to be confident.

If that's the case, don't worry, it gets easier in time, at least in my case it did.

Even though I have an account for years now, I just recently got hooked on HN. I still don't have an estimate on how much time I spend on it, but I don't even care. Ok, I use it as a news aggregator and I'll probably forget about most of it in a few days, weeks or whatever, but more importantly, I use it to find out about resources too.

Resources for learning and for my job in general, for my own products or for my day job. I think it currently might be one of best places to stay informed and on top of latest technologies.

I don't think HN and Facebook belong in the same category here, at least not for most of people. Somebody can still use Facebook to get informed about the technology, but most people don't.

I'm guessing this is OP's title for software architects.

This is true, but I'm not sure it's only limited to IT or programming, I'd say it's present in more or less any human activity.

It's a generally good way to learn something through available resources (which are accessible as never before), do an Open Source project of your own and then look for a junior position to apply and widen that knowledge.

Address the problems while they are small, use humor and friendly attitude, keep it constructive and everything should be just fine.

This is simply not correct in the age of automation.

You are basically saying that your apartment does not get vacuumed because Roomba is doing the job.

And the amount of effort being exerted by the company is not the same thing as the amount of effort being exerted by the employees. All these companies have huge profit margins and owners can easily make their employees' lives more decent instead of treating them this way, like sociopaths they are.

You simply help him widen his horizons in areas that interest him, engineering in this particular case. Provide him with support and logistics.

Get him smart toys as he's growing, like the thing you mentioned, like Lego, like Makeblock (http://www.makeblock.cc/), toys that encourage creativity.

I'm sure you can find great resources for kids to learn how to code, that's where you come in. He expresses the wish to learn how to code, you find out what's best out there to do it in his age.

These are not TinyMCE replacements and if you ask me, the trend is that the architecture is going around those huge editors because nobody likes them and nobody wants to use them.

They simply don't have the right thing for their users. They are too complicated for the end user and if you know how to write HTML, you don't even need it, it just complicates things.

As a user, I especially want software versions to know what I'm using.

I hate it how Facebook pretends that some features are bugs (for example - switching from most recent to top stories in my news feed) and I want to be able to report this, but I'm kept in the dark in regards to versions, changelog, basically everything except the UI.

In fact, I'm writing an article on why we need to use it more, even with web based hosted software. Continuous integration and deploying every day without any respect for your users, that's not OK and it will never be OK nor decent thing to do.

You literally just described the point. The author was not sure about those things and you just explained it to him by saying that everybody feels that way about it and he shouldn't obsess with it.

That's the point, he described what his problem is and people are giving useful comments and suggestions on how to solve that problem.

You need to find some local startup / entrepreneurship community and meet some people. You are definitely not ready to be approaching investors now, so don't worry about that at this point. It's not hard to raise money when you have the right idea in the right stage.

Forget that about somebody stealing your idea. That simply doesn't happen. You know, I had software with basically same features as the first version of Twitter at least 6 months before Twitter appeared. And look were Twitter is today, my software is definitely not. And I'm not sorry because I'm well aware how things work. It's not the idea that counts, it's all together, the complete process, people and product, every single thing counts, idea is just a tiny, tiny part of it all. There were some cases in history where idea was everything, but they are so rare that you can easily consider them to be statistical errors.
