Git. Having lived through many cycles of version control systems (VSS, SVN, TFS, Hg), this one has gone on long enough to be replaced with something more intuitive. I think a lot of project complexity is work arounds of inherent Git issues. But I'm just a caveman lawyer.

Yeah, one of the problems is that many states have onerous ballot access laws. Even established 3rd parties often have to regain ballot access and jump through hoops the larger 2 don't.

There might be a physiological aspect (not just psychological aspect) that you might be able to mitigate. - Make sure you are getting enough vitamin D (I would recommend a Vitamin B Complex using Methyl B) - Some supplements can reduce anxiety -- stuff that improves the GABA neurotransmitter can be helpful. As well as serotonin. I take saffron, St John's Wort, GABA (starting liposomal soon), Tryptophan. I also take 2 blends of supplements: Dr Berg's Adrenal Stress and Dr Berg's Adrenal and Cortisol support. Between all this, it has me on a mostly even-keel.

100% agree with this.

Also, with the right community, it is possible to have plenty of "socialization" with other kids. My family participates in a parent-led co-op that allows kids to benefit from different strengths in different parents and to have lots of friends.

As my kids are neurodivergent, I think this environment has been safer for them and allows them to focus on their passions. There is still some peer pressure re: neurodivergence, but I think it was less severe than when I was in public school with less obvious neurodivergence.

Agreed... also anecdotal, I have a autoimmune condition (psoriasis which includes on my face) that taking more Vitamin D helps with (so long as stress doesn't increase). I started taking 50,000 IU's to keep it under control. [I also take the K2 supplement] I also took a DNA test, and it indicated I had problems with Vitamin D absorption. A year later, my blood levels were tested and I was square in the normal range (taking 50,000 IU a day). But the two data points (from DNA and blood test) I think are important considerations.

I would encourage you to look into attachment theory -- it'll have some good advice for dealing with the childhood influences on your current relationships and how to overcome them. Personally, I've found Thais Gibson's videos to be higher in density than most who talk about attachment theory.

I think it is important to understand each kid is different, that they have different things they respond to, different dreams, different strengths.

I try to engage my kids around that, and try to encourage them in their strengths, help them through their weaknesses.

I also try to give advice when they are flustered. Listen to them when they are excited. Help them hash through their passion projects (my 3 kids have very different desires: so one is building games and I give him game / coding feedback, one is writing a book and I help him w/ his worldbuilding and story beats, one is working on internet influencing so I brainstorm and assist with technical issues).

That isn't the only definition. For example Cambridge's definition of censorship (https://dictionary.cambridge.org/us/dictionary/english/censo... )

"the action of preventing part or the whole of a book, movie, work of art, document, or other kind of communication from being seen or made available to the public, because it is considered to be offensive or harmful, or because it contains information that someone wishes to keep secret, often for political reasons:"

As a person who has put a lot of heart and creativity into cover letters for select companies I was very interested in and received form letters declining my candidacy -- I think the process devalues cover letters more than any tool like this (or even the templates that have existed prior).

you might want to check on your Vitamin D receptivity. For example, I took a DNA test, and it indicated my Vitamin D receptors weren't as efficient as normal so I should take higher doses than other people.

Hopefully there is more going on than the article says (hoping this article like any other isn't good at the scientific details). DSM criteria for autism - requires 3 specific social characteristics and then a bunch of repetitive/restrictive characteristics: https://www.cdc.gov/ncbddd/autism/hcp-dsm.html

Of course that doesn't stop people from misusing (whether "You're not autistic" to "You must be autistic").

I have seen it. The person was a new hire, and while he's a solid developer, from a maintenance / debugging / support perspective I haven't encountered his equal -- he solved a complicated issue in about 4 hours (including the time taken to get the dev environment setup) and apologized for how long it took. Great attitude, and amazing ability to get at the root of maintenance problems.

Over the years, working on performance on .Net applications, I've found among the best ways to improve a .Net application performance is to reduce the GC collection pressure. This is the least obvious way to improve performance for most people because the GC is treated like a magic black box. Recent versions of .Net have made it so straightforward things that used to wreck havoc on memory (like LINQ) no longer do so (yielding good performance gains).

A natural way to reduce paranoia is to increase GABA and GABA building blocks in your diet. Almonds are a great example, and I take lots of supplements to also help w/ Gaba quantity (my Gaba receptors aren't peak functional). I've had times I've tapped out my Gaba reserves (internally) and paranoia would flourish.

It might allow you to try Ritalin again (albeit in smaller doses).

The scare quote 10x engineer I'd consider a faux 10x engineer. I have seen them -- and working through their code is not pleasant. But I've also seen people who just operate as such a high level that their code is top notch from the get go, they think clearly about the problem and then have a clear solution. Those are the real 10x (or whatever multiplier you want to use).

I lost taste and smell, and a regular taking of the following supplements helped me get it back: a) EGCg (from green tea, so take in morning) b) Magnesium Threonate (helps w/ neural repair) c) Agmatine and PQQ (I took both, and I mix up their purposes) d) NAC (this might have been just for immune boost)

If you had to just try 2 of them, I'd try EGCg and Magnesium Threonate -- but it might help you recover your senses. The only thing off for me now is eggs, I'm super sensitive to the sulfur in them.
