It would still be encoded, assuming your (analogue) POTS call traversed more than one exchange then it would have been coded to g.711 (ulaw or alaw) for that inter-exchange. Although (from memory) that would be 10ms packets.

This kind of question is meaningless, and I’m pretty sure it comes from the old view of neurons being somewhat akin to a 1-1 or many-1 digital switch (it isn’t).

In fact, we currently don’t even know the full extent of the types of neurons in the brain or the way they function and interact [1]

There are neurons that only fire when a certain percentage of their inputs are stimulated, some that have a temporal component to their firing and more.

In all the computer neural net research I read I never saw an implementation that truly explored or implemented more than a few types (like 3-4) of neuronal input and only one type of output

Also in the production of Sodium batteries, which while significantly lower in energy density compared to Lithium, they have bigger cycle counts (and as such are/can be used to buffer grid based wind/solar generation)

Diamonds are a cartel backed, price gouged, selectively distributed, commodity whose only production cost is digging them out of the ground.

On top of that they are pretty much the most common gemstone.

The cartel I mentioned earlier has also had a heavy handed approach towards the producers of artificial diamond.

All of this is a long winded way of saying “what is your point?” Diamonds and Common earth element man made magnets have absolutely nothing in common.

Actually there are (Ebola, haemorrhagmific fever etc) are mostly deadly and easily transmissible - however they tend to be self limiting in part because they are so deadly and (luckily) because they aren’t airborne and thus distance … literally the distance between groups of people helps limit them. (Also the fairly short incubation period).

However all of that is irrelevant since the GP was musing on the “huge genetic diversity of humans” being a barrier to xenomutation of animal viruses to humans.

Thats not the case, because humans are pretty much genetically identical to near a 1000th of a percent - so a particularly virulent virus that mutated from an animal to a human because of an organ transplant has a pretty good chance of causing a major pandemic.

You don’t even have to take my word for it, Covid, swine flu, h1n1 are all examples of animal infections jumping - and that’s without the added long term exposure / selection pressure a transplanted organ would provide.

Caveat: I’m all for this kind of research and development given the lack of transplantable organs in many health departments, but I’m also in favor of r&d for artificial replacements too.

I agree, from memory windows will prefer a 60hz rate at the highest resolution until the user (or “monitor .inf file) overrides it.

I kind of feel MacaOS does the same - indeed a quick test shows my monitor at 60hz even though there is a free sync range from 40-90 in the refresh rate. But of course this is a weird situation since it’s a free sync thing too, so I couldn’t apply it to everything.

So on that note, I go back to my original theory that it’s the graphics driver (or xrand or one of those x-things) screwing the timings up.
