SEEKING WORK - London, UK. Web developer (mainly front-end, with a bit of back-end) and Computer Science student at Brunel University. Experienced in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Ruby, PHP and Java (started this year). Hoping to begin building iOS apps soon with Obj-C and Swift.

I am looking for a summer placement/internship at a Startup, preferably in London, beginning June 2015 until September. I can work remote but I'd rather be in an office environment.

I am currently a front-end web developer/designer for 5 Lines Creative (www.5lin.es), a design agency I co-founded. Currently working on mainly WordPress projects. I have also built a Ruby app called BibleQuotes (www.biblequot.es) which I am planning to extend with User Accounts, liking and a 'feed', when I get the chance.

Preparing a Mac laptop for your Grandma 13 years ago

While Apple, Microsoft and Google and anyone else who makes stuff for the internet aren't necessarily to blame for this, they could go a long way in making it easier for older people to use Computer's for this. The demographic for 70/80/90+ people using PCs must be relatively small compared to the rest of the market and is surely decreasing all the time with the onset of tablets.

Maybe it would be helpful if Apple/Microsoft/Google could increase the Accessibility options and maybe add some sort of option to disable all the stuff and more that Talos mentions and automatically have the Computer set up an "Accessibility account" for those in such a situation.

Great post, really made me think about our attitude to accessibility on the web and how robust we have to be in building Apps and websites.

LuaJIT maintainer's take on Apple/Clang 14 years ago

Well, Apple's stock has increased massively over the past few days of the trial between Apple and Samsung, so the shareholder's can't think it's "embarrassing". Looking at the share price, I'd have thought the shareholders think its going quite well, especially when you think that they didn't have an especially good quarter.
