1. I log into Argly from my phone, it connects/ screen-shares my desktop and I can control all the apps or send keyboard strokes

2. I'll have cursor open, feed it a prompt, wait for the changes to be applied

3. Then it deploys to my phone through wifi from across the house. This works decently

I would be interested in how this could be useful for you folks!

That's not a fair comparison. Imagine if you hired an electrician for no money, and you kept using them over and over again. I expect if I were to pay for an alternative to not have my privacy violated.

Not that this would ever happen..probably, but if Amazon were to offer users a $20 amazon store voucher to get users to disable their FB account and port all their pictures to a social media solution they build, I could see myself doing that. This platform would only be accessible to users with Amazon Prime accounts and that would be a way for them to keep it ad-free.

New programmers usually don't have any exposition on what's an acceptable amount to ask and adding snark just deters them from sticking with it.

The types of disasters that I've talked to with business continuity managers they are most worried about are:

1). If there's a shooter near the premises, they need to quickly alert people.

2). Earthquakes/natural disasters, and you are absolutely right that internet would be first to go down with this scenario. Right now there aren't that many alternatives to bluetooth if the cell signal is down. Bluetooth is only sufficient for small range, but you never know if someone is trapped in closed space. Having this backup is better than nothing.

It would be really cool if offices equipped themselves with battery-powered bluetooth extenders and in these events, communication would be independent of close range + internet.

3). Carbon monoxide leaks are also common causes of concern.

So for example, places that I had previously worked at would have a back-up location that employees would have to navigate to if the main office was closed. This information was all stored in some sharepoint document and employees would have to edit a spreadsheet document when they arrived. With Owlorbit, you can easily place a meet-up point on a map and users in your specific channel can view it. They can also respond to a poll (that gets pushed out to smart-phones) if they are safe.

This is a chance before the U.S mid-terms for them to prove to the public they've learned from their mistakes..

1). prevent the spread of fake news.. they need a better solution than the user-tagging bs if an article is valid or not. there was a scientologist that had an account that wasn't active for 5+ years, that started posting how puerto rico wasn't that bad when the storm first hit. why is this account not being banned or suspended when people are reporting it and they're reposting pictures from texas claiming it to be all good.

2). prevent outside interference with elections. the first baby step is if they're accepting rubles for political ads targetted at americans, ban it. simple as that. then it'll get more complex and interesting handling proxies doing the dirty deed. the hearing w/ congress was pathetic and makes fb even more untrustworthy.

3). ban fake accounts / tie in a real human behind the account. 100000 fake users means a lot less to me if i'm an advertiser than 10 real people.

even though pretty much everyone i know is on facebook, i'm itching for another platform with better integrity to jump ship to.

Bruh if it's accepted then why did people just lose over a half a billion $ storing their cryptocurrency in one.

The reason why fiat currencies are main-stream is because there's trust. People trust they can deposit and withdraw their money to and from banks w/ some semblance of protection and have transactions with little friction. News like this signals that you really shouldn't trust any crypto-currency exchange yet (just browse r/coinbase and people are waiting 1+ month to receive funds) , and I'll see a headline like the above and it's not surprising.

I don't understand why news like this doesn't have that huge of an impact of bitcoin's price.. Bitcoin seems to be hovering around 11k~ as I'm writing this. It's been at the same price it seems for the past couple of days...

Just one tiny suggestion, let users create their display name. The hashed names make it a bit unreadable.

The bandwidth at which they produced new flash games was amazing. They were pretty detailed too. I can't think of any html5 gaming community website that even comes remotely close to them.

One of my favorite events with Neopets was participating in a global takedown of enemies during war. I spent so many hours with that website.. from tending my shop, training my pets and tricking out their pages w/ HTML, to collecting map pieces (I remember the economics w/ Secret Laboratory Map Pieces exploding when people realized how valuable they were)..

This might sound dumb but.. with these Meltdown + Spectre bugs would an attacker be able to penetrate to gain full access only if a user downloads a native app or would it be possible through the browser/js?

lol, this is dumb that adding a cryptocurrency would have that profound impact on their stock. Just pay them in USD or some other currency with real-world proven value.

I've probably spent a couple of hours last month trying to resolve sound driver related issues where my headphone jack stopped working on Ubuntu 16.04. Also, my dual monitor set-up randomly stopped working.. this was during a deadline so I ended up coding with my thinkpad screen for the entirety of a day. This is my work machine. These are the exact same problems I faced 10 years ago when I was using Ubuntu. Completely unacceptable. Macs + Windows are miles ahead more stable than Ubuntu.
