I'm not certain, but in the picture from the Forbes article the lock looks exactly like the kind used on many doors in my university - the shape is exactly the same, and ours had the same type of electrical connector in the same place at the bottom of the lock. I remember because I considered attacking this interface before noticing the torx security screw next to the connector; removing this screw allows the panel covering the bottom part of the lock to be removed (the edge of this panel is visible in the Forbes photo), exposing the bolt mechanism of the lock. Turning this mechanism one way opened the lock, turning it the other double-locked it so it couldn't be opened with the proper keycard.

I wonder if any HN readers have access to an Onity lock to check whether this method works on them?

Does the non-US contractor have any US legal obligations if this tax isn't properly withheld? I'm quite certain I'm doing the right thing on my UK tax returns, but I'd hate to find I had trouble doing business in the US because of old unwithheld taxes...

I, and I'm sure many others, would like to know about share options for foreign nationals - again, I'm comfortable with the UK rules and regs, but is there also some US liability for foreigners taking share options?

Hi Michael. Congratulations on building a very good product. It's probably the best web-based e-reader I've seen, apart from the 'social' bits. No doubt the great majority of your users like them, but they're a useless annoyance to me. If you could add an option in the user preferences to suppress all the social stuff, you'd have me as a user right away.

A small note: the scrolling code seems to break mouse-gesture history navigation in Chrome 20.0.1132.57 on OS X - my attempt to go back just scrolled the page up...
