0, but only because all of our interns are juniors and seniors (or grad students). In our area, CCs top out at the sophomore level. I would say the vast majority of our interns come from the local, 4 year state schools. We're generally not importing kids from "Top Schools". There's a good chance a good portion of our interns did indeed attend a CC at one time; that's a very common path to a 4 year degree here.

In finance, there is a rule-of-thumb called the rule of 72. Basically, 72/X = # of years to double, where X is the compounded rate of return.

Solving for your request, 72/X = 5, X = 14.4%.

So to double your investment in 5 years, you need to find something that will give you 14.4% return for 5 years in a row. That high of rate (in this climate) would require a fairly risky investment.

Hey, this is pretty cool!

A few suggestions; feel free to take or leave them:

-The playing area zooming towards the ball was really distracting and made playing difficult

-Create a ball speed setting or easy/med/hard

-Add mouse control. The CL/CCL arrows can be counter intuitive

-Give each player a different colored/textured paddle. I lost track of mine a few times.

Other than that, well done!

I thought the people who were killed by methanol poisoning was a deliberate side effect of the ATF adding it into liquor/beer supply in order to make consumers second guess their decision to drink.

EDIT: see denatured alcohol at any hardware store.

Do you know of any studies/articles that explore this idea? In the UK does any of taxes collected on the sale/manufacturing of cigarettes go back to funding the NHS?

Just about every grocery store in Oregon has those machines. I guess it depends highly state to state. When I was working for a summer in New Mexico, I was somewhat appalled how the waitresses at restaurants would collect beer bottles from tables and toss them into the trash.

Finally an HN question that I can respond to!

I would recommend reading this book for a very good, but broad and high level intro:

http://www.amazon.com/Introduction-Materials-Management-Tony...

This will cover topics like BOMs, MOQ, Safety Stock, Inventory strategy, warehousing etc.

Next I would recommend reading up on the following phrases: "product development" and "new product introduction" / "NPI"

http://www.amazon.com/Best-Practices-New-Product-Introductio...

http://www.amazon.com/Principles-Product-Development-Flow-Ge...

Lean training/reading never hurts either. Note: this is supply chain lean vs "lean start up".

The gravity constant (or the density of the blocks) seems to be a little low. Like playing Jenga on the moon.

Hey Jay,

This is really cool. One idea is it would be great if you could interface with EDGAR and gather the links to the various financial statements. The EDGAR database search/navigation is horrendous.

As another commenter said, it would be great if it could detect the company name or at least the ticker without the $.

Also, a failed query subtracts from the guest query allotment. That doesn't seem ideal as I'm first learning how to phrase my requests.

Lastly, mutual fund data would be awesome. Morning star rating, fund performance, fund assets, etc.
