maybe not residential, but if you are close to a coffee shop or bar or anything else that offers it...

To me it is crazy people go out of their way to defend apple in this area.
They might be slightly better than some others (horray!) but given their ecosystem it is still the worst platform if you value any form of freedom. Depending on apple for your privacy is ignorance at best.
Airgapped is harder than you might think. If your TV finds an open network (neigbours?) it will use that one. And it is only a matter of time before they have cellular capabilities too.
Ah, most of what I've seen it's just an open area everyone goes to and does it themselves.
Which I like because I always have to try a few sizes to get one that actually fits.
Isn't that included in the lane price? Always has been for me.
Not saying that Fusion 360 isn't a better product. But being at the mercy of autodesk to even be able to open old projects just sounds asinine to me.
And also such a deliberate ploy to try and undercut competition, which sadly has been working unreasonable well. Even after onshape shafted everyone which should have highlighted the obvious risks.
CAD Sketcher add-on adds parametric design to blender. Haven't used it but probably not ready for real use.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=92QmjS-xDaI https://hlorus.github.io/CAD_Sketcher/
Though people are so eager to be locked into Fusion 360 I will never understand. Especially when Freecad is so much better than it used to be.
Because there are too many things. We've built society on the notion that you don't have to know. Which of course unethical corporations try to exploit.
But if people knew how easy it was to use the camera they bought to spy on their family, then I bet many would care.
There is no reasonable way to assess security for the average consumer.
For these kinds of devices, yes.
My voice is my passport.
(never heard of anyone actually using that in real life, sounds uttery insane)
What repo-binary is executed for the LSP?
What does all of this give you? For a static(?) site burning a few cycles unnecessarily, saving what, 30 cents of power per year?
Peace of mind? Fair enough but I'd be more wary about blocking legitimate users. VPS providers are often used for VPNs etc.
To the same extent that humans can be trained, so can AI.
For decades we had/have problems of people opening readme.exe that they get from an unknown mail address.
AI opens up a new vector for sure where a "trained human" that knows better but the AI they use does not. But AI is not worse than the average human. And of course AI will get better at handling this. Good enough? Maybe not, but humans are not good enough in this area either.
Scale is different though so I'm not saying it isn't or won't be a problem (will likely be a huuge problem). But it alone is not a sign of lack of intelligence and humans are exceptionally poor at it too.
It's got more information than my bank account details too. Talk about nonsense...
Not really, humans are about as easy to trick.
Parasitic advertisement is not a basic instinct.
FYI, looks like you are shadowbanned.
Well since what you get for your subscription is unknown it would be trivial to get that result without burning tokens.
Especially since compute is such a scarce resource.
Which is about as convenient as opt-in types in python. Nice to have but but a poor substitute and requires much more diligence than if it was designed for it in the first place.
For some tasks, sure.
But you still have to think about memory in those languages.
Performance is not even a factor in my argument.
I didn't say that. But if you think about memory then GC does more harm than good because you have no help from the language.
A GC is not the only fix for UAF and buffer overruns...
GC is such a mistake though, you don't have to use rust but to never have to think about memory is a disservice to the programmer. Because that is something you always should do, and if you do then GC is nothing but a hindrance.
For scripting etc. it is perfect though.
Regardless, I'm not one to use or otherwise promote such shitty behavior.
Not sure why cloudflare seems to be in such good standing on hn.
If they associate it with a Microsoft account (or anything that is identifiable) then it becomes PII.
And of course they are.
Is eroding privacy the only way to combat that?
Needs to be logged in, so not exactly user friendly. But made me happy, I was afraid I might have to do updates again now I can continue life not being bothered by windows update.
Yes, that was one of my points in my first post...
Yes? Not sure what your point is.
Sequential workloads and just filling the drive over and over are very different still.
