Try go for a swim in the ocean, an afternoon walk in a forest, a bit of dancing (and music!) at night. Don't underestimate how much rejuvenation you can get from having various natural (mental, emotional and physical) experiences like these.

There's also an adrenal support supplement which after a few days will help recycle hormones taking the load off your system. Essential oils supplements should also help with mental clarity.

If your digestion is currently poor, then after a few days of eating less toxic food you should have much more energy and less mental fatigue.

I'd love to see them open source this react material design implementation.

If its just about ux then you should consider that google will put that option as an extra style of search and starve off your users. Either way if it's innovative get it done, if you don't make money you've at least improved the tech that is available out there (from you or google).

I'm disappointed that HN has become such a big news site, because it is not designed responsibly to be one, so trying to get a post featured is very difficult. I think the only reason any posts do get featured is because of the 'sockpuppets' that the submitters have built up (or that follow the content), but that is legitimate upvoting (I'm not sure why someone would upvote something they aren't interested in?).

Perhaps the most important change that HN needs to make is to have topics. It isn't fair to other people and content if the stream is full of NodeJS content, but that is a legitimate interest so HN can't ban the prominent workers in that field (bizarre). The ban from HN seems to be purely a side effect of the fact that the maintainers are not interested in designing the system responsibly (they are too busy with other responsibilities). Topic channels are obviously needed.

I think the difference between HN and reddit needs to be considered well and the two should be integrated some how, I would like to see topic channels on HN.

You can try setting your goals lower for now, maybe just publish a smaller part of the application that has a more fun and experimental vibe.

If you've got burn out definitely get some medicine for it and make some changes in your life, try adrenaline regulating vitamins with licorice and stuff, take some brain fuel vitamins, try some gaba (it's like magic). But there is nothing better to beat stress than productivity and feeling like you've provided something, so ship something.

Generally the answer is to feel more empowered, by changing the stress equation: stress = resources vs desires. Get some more resources by talking more to colleagues that you can work with, find more people / customers that you can serve (reduces your desires they have lesser needs, which you can meet now), or just step down your own aims to something more reasonable, maybe it's not as risky to just ship what you've got.

The rule of thumb I like most is to continuously make sure (every week) that you're making some achievement that involves interaction with people, as in you're providing value.

I tried to ask a similar question here a while back but it disappeared http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=2331889.

Having an incubator in South Africa is actually more noteworthy than if it were "Startups in the Congo".

Here in South Africa, as other commenters pointed, we still don't have a strong software industry, neither from the academic side, nor from the hacker culture side.

However, in comparison to other African countries, we have a developed infrastructure. We have fast broadband access (although only recently), and access to current technology (smartphones etc), which is not as much the case in north african countries. That means that the sort of startups could be on the same global level, as opposed to targeting different (region specific) problems or technology.

We also have strong universities that could become strong software universities, given enough pressure.

One other significant difference that I've come to realize after lots of thinking about it, is that South Africa is one of the very few countries in the world that is first language English...outside of America and England (Australia would be the other). This obviously makes a huge difference in terms of potential for first class membership in the same industry / network. So to some degree we have had South Africa almost hiding away as an unattended asset in this regard. This is probably acts as a large hurdle in European / Asian / other African countries and puts SA in a different category.

Also noteworthy, is the fact that (as far as I know) this is Google first proper incubator project anywhere in the world. Viewing this as part of Google's "Africa Project", for all these reasons, would be looking at it from completely the wrong point of view (IMO).
