After some researches I ended up with Wallabag as well, hosted on wallabag.it. I've got a lot of things saved, sometimes quite long articles (I read a lot, but I save a lot more) The ePub export was a requirement for me since I moved to Kobo (originally for the Pocket compatibility) after old Pocket app on my 1st gen iPad Mini stopped working. I made some test to self host it but the epub export and the images caching was to much for my Synology NAS. I had some good results with a more powerful machine but I didn't want to keep it running 24/7. And finally the export works well on wallabag.it so I though the hosted version worth its price!

The SSD is still a good option with Xcode and Mac OS X. I can't imagine working on a HDD machine ever again.

I would suggest an SSD (or Fusion Drive) and at least 8gb of memory (that's pretty much what I have on the Air).

If you take theses 2 options on the 1.4Ghz you're already over the price of the middle range which have a better processor and a better graphic card.

since you're a .Net developer you should take a look at Xamarin

finding an apartment in Paris is a complicated thing but I'm not sure you're in the right place to ask for this kind of help.

I totally recognize myself in what you are saying.

I'm waiting to finish my current project (I do freelance contracting) to be able to get back on my own projects and focus on something... but I have the same lake of good ideas lately, or at least I don't really believe in my ideas anymore.

You should consider working on really early stage projects, building MVPs, maybe for equities rather than money.

Mac Mini with a wide screen (>22") + an iPod touch as testing device may help keep in mind that you can run Windows or even Linux on a Mac if you're into that. The hardware will handle it pretty well.

I've join a new company few days ago, this is the first time I'm working remotely and full time. Basicaly we use:

- Github for source code mostly (I've made some pull requests since I'm new on the project)

- Hipchat, since I've join, Skype before that.

- Dropbox for file sharing and design.

- Google Apps

- Basecamp for project managment

and I may not know the full stack yet but we use cloud services for everything!
