Despite being proprietary, 1Password still hasn’t had any fuckery that I am aware of. I have been tempted to switch to an open source solution many times but I think I’ll be parking right here for a few more years yet.

This is awesome and feels providential.

I just dug my Vita out of a drawer last week and have been playing some portable ports of some PS3 games that I wanted to play but can’t hook up the PS3 for (ratchet and clank, sly cooper, god of war 1 and 2, and some other indie games).

Was shocked to discover the store is still functional. I bought the PS1 Armored Core games for it.

Love this thing. It really got done dirty in the market and with Sony’s support.

Tempted to jailbreak it and try to make some homebrew stuff.

I’ve been a rails developper my entire career and I’ve seen some sh*t with coffeescript monstrosities. I am so glad we moved away from that, and I won’t be going down that path again.

I'm more skeptical than most on the current wave of AI tech innovation.

However, believe it or not, humanity can collectively work on different things at the same time. And the people putting emoji generators in phones are probably not the people I would want doing cancer research. And many many things that we rely on today were not directly created by research in those topics and were born from innovation in other unrelated areas.

Project Euler 2 years ago

I love Project Euler, it’s my go-to for learning the basics of new programming languages I want to learn.

This boggles my mind that something like this is even possible in Minecraft.

I build redstone dust contraptions with my 4 year old and it blows my mechanical engineer father’s mind but this kind of animation is just another plane of reality to me.

I’m lucky. I was forced to go cold turkey after 6 years on SSRIs.

Disclaimer: NEVER DO THIS WITHOUT PROFESSIONAL SUPERVISION

I had about 2 weeks of extreme euphoria and insomnia. Then I was suicidal for about a month. Then about 8 months of rebound depressive symptoms on and off. Never had a single “brain zap” though I was told to expect them.

I will never take that garbage ever again.

Learning to cope with depression and having a good support system beats numbing my brain to zombie mode any day.

Not medical advice. Just my personal anecdote.

I am literally at least 10x when I work from home.

I have ADHD and through years of discipline, cultivating my workspace to suit my needs, and hard work I can be productive most of the day in the zone without (much) sidetracking.

Literally impossible for me to do in the modern software dev sweatshop.

I also make more money, can spend more time with my family because I don’t commute, and plenty of other positives.

I love the work, I enjoy working with my colleagues and I can set my own boundaries by setting office hours and scheduling meetings. There is very rarely anything that derails my day anymore. Everything is much better documented because everything must live in confluence or Jira or it doesn’t exist. The company saves tons of money on real estate.

If you can change your processes and workflow to take advantage of tools that suit remote work, it’s superior in basically every way.

Pry it from my cold dead hands.
