You won't find an answer to your question because you don't seem willing to drop your alarmist attitude.

There is just far too much space for 100k objects, let alone 10k to ever run the risk of collission. These satellites are all meant to be in line-of-sight. They will communicate with optics as opposed or in conjunction to radio.

You fear unforseen space particles destroying one and causing a chain reaction. Why don't you hold that same fear for existing satelittes which typically operate at an orbit with far lower decay rate? The orbit for StarLink is very low, small particles would not sustain their energy long enough to be a risk factor. The StarLink sats maintain orbit with fuel, everything else without fuel in that orbit will fall. The chance that a particle will end up in the same orbit, on the same plane, at the same time is astronomically low.

Your comments just echo the same type of delusions of people who think in their brillance they've found problems others have not foreseen. SpaceX is really just full of amateurs you ought to submit your findings.

I think much like alcohol it's very easy to dose in excess with cannabis. I'm not sure how many people recognize that cannabis is incredibly effective even at small doses.

These days, I take one hit in the morning and then just move on. The dose is low enough that I don't feel sluggish during or after, but still enough that I feel up and "high".

I think cannabis is invaluable in medicine, but I do think the culture around it, much like alcohol, has pushed using an excess and treating is as a party drug rather than medicine.

Primarily excited because I'm a huge fan of Honda, secondarily because the price-point, it is fairly affordable for what it is and I can hope to own one by my 50's when the price comes down a bit.

Glad to see Apple is expanding NFC capabilities. One thing in particular that was exciting this last year was that all iPhone 8/X support Sony's contact payment standard used in Japan's transit system. Previously only the models sold there had the support.

It'd be easier to compromise an engineer with data they have already gathered than to force Apple to comply with such an order from the top down.

Anarchy is in Apple's DNA, and I have to believe there are still a few of the old guard hanging around that word would get out in such an event.

I would take anything Rossman says with a grain of salt, he clearly has a personal vendetta against Apple. Further, Apple products are almost entirely recyclable, up to and including the packaging. As long as they are properly disposed of, you wouldn't be producing additional waste.

And you are assuming that "flash" and "sexy" serve a single, vapid purpose. The designs of their products are as compact and space efficient as possible because weight, battery size, and thermals all play a factor in the quality of a product.

You can shit on them all you want but no company comes close to Apple in quality, and I don't see anyone complaining about the right to repair ultrabooks, or pixelbooks.

Space is big, we won't be running into any issues with satellite collisions since they can be positioned in three-dimensions and there is a lot of space.

Operational satellites are not considered space-junk since they typically have predictable or fixed orbits which can be avoided. Space junk is non-operational stuff, with potentially unpredictable orbits.

I also get this impression, but with my university for example, they all but shut down departments that were non STEM related. We weren't a particularly notable institution, so the administration decided to focus their efforts on engineering fields to set us apart. I don't imagine this sat well with the faculty and students outside of STEM but it may also be that there is a downward trend of people willing to spend the money on a liberal arts degree, and that threatens the livelihood of those who rely on it's existence.

I think many would argue otherwise, there is an inherent level of creativity with regards to all four disciplines, in particular Engineering, where novel solutions to real-world problems can be both practical and creative, although you might argue this extends into the other three as well.

I initially took the addition of Arts as a matter of inclusivity and for that reason I thought it was an awful idea.

I take it that is the impression students are getting, or rather, teachers are assuming that students are getting, and in an attempt to curb any feelings of inferiority, they are making the addition. I think in this case, it is a dangerous precedent. University will cost the engineer as much as it will the liberal arts major, but you are lying if you tell a student that society values them all the same.

I suppose we would need to determine how to measure the value of a given field. Is value determined by impact on society/human civilization, or by job availability and salary. In either case I would argue that STEM fields rank higher, and of course even within STEM, some do far better than others, but suffice it to say, there definitely seems to be an agenda by stretching the definition of a very simple acronym to include fields that are probably being phased out. I seem to recall reading that Japan was no longer going to offer liberal arts in Universities.

Yes, my assumption was the acronym STEM existed because in university, many of the core classes are shared in STEM fields. I did not consider the intersection of those fields being the real idea.

I suppose that in that case, STEAM makes sense. Making technology beautiful is definitely something a company like Apple has always kept in mind. Thanks for the response!
