I'm curious to those who disagree with the parent why, or what exactly they find is inaccurate about their statements.
"A permanent solution to a temporary problem" is a government's most practiced response.
So is it true that Leftists want to abolish the family, or do users here simply think I'm exaggerating?
I was actually very ignorant to the not very new ideas that Leftists hold about "abolishing the family", even as far back as Marx (maybe even further). Very disturbing

Why would you live mostly off of soy beans? That sounds depressing indeed. As a vegan I have an even more varied diet than before. I eat all kinds of fruits, vegetables, beans, grains, nuts and seeds. And I eat 0% soy. I also hate tofu/soy/etc.
Do you have anyone who you can work with? When I first started as a SWE I pair programmed every week with a senior engineer on fixing bugs in the application. It was one of the most fun and deep learning experiences I have had.
Besides that, when I come across a technical article - or even comments here on HN - I print it out to take it offline to read later, highlight, mark up. Then months later I circle back to it and usually find that I'm a lot more familiar and knowledgeable about it than the first time - a kind of long term spaced repetition.
Reading other people's code is also really good. Do you have other engineers in your organization that you can read code from? If you don't, try to find open source projects in your field. Again, I like to print things out. It is the best way I digest something. So yes, I print out code to go over later when I'm having dinner with wine.
Sounds very fun and full of interesting challenges. It's not directly applicable because they didn't use underground dwellings, but you might appreciate the book "One Straw Revolution" for the spirit of community and simplicity of growing food. Maybe some people on permies.com would be interested or have advice.

I've heard it's good for huge datasets that you want to shard, that mongo makes it easy to shard. The use case was per second location updates stored for at least 30 days

Since you bought them during a time of transition, I'd say that's not so bad. If you bought them new now I think it'd be more of a problem. And I am not a vegan that thinks you should just throw them away all of sudden - it's difficult to explain to people since they might see your leather boots and think you're a hypocrite, but better to keep them and wear them since you have them.
I agree about the life saving medicine aspect - my wife was dying in the hospital and accepted medicine that we knew contained lactose (we're vegan). But I don't see leather boots as life saving — are you buying them second hand?

I believe it's a manufactured event. The unprecedented actions taken were not warranted for the situation. Many tests false positive due to covid being related to other common viruses. A few people have become even wealthier while many have become even poorer.
This makes me sick. I don't want to live in a world where we need to "smize" (barf)
