i think their past issue was having to hire more sales people to scale revenue in a manual fashion talking to companies rather than having a robust programmatic platform they can rely on to bring in revenue with fewer headcount. not sure if this is still a problem for them or not.

these comparisons are fine and fun. but a single iphone isnt that valuable if youre the only person on all the different networks an iphone gives you access to

makes sense. as majority of the population moves away from desktops, windows and mac will lose market share. the hardcore Linux users that aren't going anywhere will gain market share.

ticketmaster is now really good at preventing and detecting bots. I think the guys in the article are clever by taking their customer's payment info and using that in the bot. that's another difficulty a bot runs into while auto purchasing. can't fake payment info / purchase limits.

talk to a recruiter like teksystems. find out who works for the NY office and send them an introductory email. I had the exact same issue a while ago and this was the solution, I had a job < 2 weeks after first contact. take a short contract gig to beef up your resume. be selective with the opportunities the recruiter brings you, learn your market value

Funny how amazon gets thrown in with facebook under the 'consumer tech industry' moniker. facebook sells ads to make money. amazon sells physical stuff. how are they related besides both using technology? I think we should group businesses by how they make money and who they compete against. 'technology company' doesn't mean anything in a world where every company has technology.

Some companies are really dumb and only consider candidates with specific job titles on their resume. I've had recruiters from contract companies say "your experience is great but can we change your previous job title to X." Recruiter knows the client gets hung on job titles if its not exactly what they're looking for. In my experience i'll change previous job titles to fit the position i'm applying for, as most of my previous jobs I could've been titled 4-5 things.
