There are so many apps that I wish the developers would stop ‘adding features’ to and simply maintain with changing os’s and security whatnot. But sales people want forever new features to justify charging for a new version in an arms race against competitor software. Abandoning the idea that software should be a tool and promoting software is a service is incredibly problematic.

Does not apply to tech interviews.

I can’t even start to count how many things came from literature film and art. The tech industry isn’t really about inventing new things, its about making things that were previously ideas into reality and profiting by putting it into everybody’s hands. Sure new things are invented along the way, but overall? Hard pressed to think of things tech created that wasn’t previously science fiction, or taking some real world thing and putting it on a computer screen, or improving it by making it more accessible / portable / available to everyone.

Augmented Reality/ Virtual Reality. Concepts came from scifi writers back as early as the 30’s and video artists and scientists started making working experiences in the 60’s & 70’s

Not sure if it's exactly pertinent, but If I remember correctly tesla recommends draining your battery to 20% then charging back up to 80% when driving on a road trip, but this if mostly for speed of charging. The car battery charges fastest in this half-full range, charging past 80% to 100% is a exponential rate like blowing air into an already full balloon, it gets harder as you reach 100%.. to their recommendation is not necessarily about battery health but more likely about reducing the speed of your mid-trip recharge.

basic, who can remember. turbo basic, qbasic, pascal? all grade school...

flash took 1.5 years from flash 5, as2 to as3.

php, asp, don't think I ever got fluent enough to not have to refrence..

javascript and jquery took me about 2 months from novice to master. 4-6 months for everything html5 and css3 related.

still working on the objective c, c++, etc.
