Rails is a nice to have, but it's not a pre-requisite for the QA position.

* Work with developers and dedicated QA engineers to automate as much of the QA process as possible

* Work with a tech team where testing and QA are already deeply embedded in their DNA

* Roll up your sleeves and manually test the last mile when new features are rolled out

* Work with a team that already understands the importance of testing - all code must have rspec and cucumber tests written before getting shipped

* Help the developers understand what needs to be tested by involving yourself in the requirements gathering process early on

* Years of QA experience testing web, mobile and API products

* You love setting up frameworks and love giving input on how to re-organize roles and responsibilities to improve QA

Actually, your idea of racism is precisely inverted. Racism isn't just about calling people names and hurting their feelings, racism also includes a systemic exclusion of a group. And if we end up with 100% white guys time and time again that is racism, again, whether you like it or not.

Selecting qualified underrepresented people would not be racist or sexist. Ending up with white men all the time would be. And we should throw these labels around, this is something that should be discussed and addressed in variety of ways.

If you don't have diversity as one of your goals (either from the start or tacked on at the end) you are part of the system that perpetuates racism, whether you like it or not.

I mentioned Indian because I am of that descent, but that your mind jumped to "illegal" is something you need to examine about yourself. I think this is probably somehow connected to why you can't understand using women for this purpose in this advert is not appropriate.

Perhaps it's just me, but it seems like the quotations from Fred Wilson, pg, and Douglas Rushkoff are made in direct support of codeyear/codecademy.

The placement makes it seem (to me) that the quotations and made in promotion as opposed to being used as backing for support.

What makes swearing any more offensive than say, not wearing a tie at some conference? Is there anything inherent in the tie and words or is there a cultural attachment to these things that raises emotions?

So then, do we always cater to the current cultural trends, or do we pave our own ways in some way? Some times we're not always looking to please, attempts to be polite can lead to concealment of details that matter. So sometimes it's worth not being polite, and politeness, too, is in the eye of the beholder.

Offensive is largely still a subjective matter, you have to decide how much you value this subjectivity.

Not necessarily. Yes, there are many Christian, Muslim and Jewish scientists who are practising believers. However, there are variations in practising belief. The type of thinking in the lab is not the type of thinking done in church. Now this doesn't necessarily stop scientific progress from occurring in and of itself, but it slows it down significantly. The second way is a political conflict, like Galileo having to say that the Earth was the centre of the solar system. Stem-cell research being discouraged in the States, and a number of other issues faith/the religious have with areas science reaches into.

Another thing this article is saying is that religion and faith as a way of discovering or deciding on truth and morality are waning as we move into the future.

Sure they were, but as Carl Sagan said, "Science is a way of thinking much more than it is a body of knowledge." And this way of thinking is antithetical to the way of thinking that faith is based on.

Atheism is in response to theism. One can be a believer and be agnostic, likewise you can be atheist and agnostic as well.

The existence of god is as yet unverifiable in the same way the existence of Bilbo Baggins is unverifiable. So what?
