The CEO of Softbank is an ethnic korean that grew up in a largely racist country (Japan).

These judgments about entire countries are much too grandiose and strident to count as thoughtful comments here.

They are not really thoughtful comments. I dont know how productive they are but I guess some people appreciate them. I dont want to contribute to a circlejerk of "we hate china". For sure not.

I usually get carried away though.

Those readers have a right to come here and not see comments denouncing their country and often (by implication if not explicitly) their ethnicity, and in a way their families too. Moreover, since such comments are pure flamebait, they are a vector toward this site destroying itself with flamewar and we have a duty to prevent that.

My family had been at the receiving end of such countries. Twice. I dont believe in a policy of appeasement. At all. China is too similar to Nazi Germany for me to ignore it. It is an evil, vile country that has deception and absolute disregard to human rights deeply rooted at its core. The youtuber SerpentZA only scratches the surface of what this country is doing to not only its people.

And this is not an overstatement. To compare it to countries like Korea and Japan would be doing disservice to these countries. They are both objectively racist. Are they evil?

Most people dont realize that open source is unsustainable. Only the big and strong (the megacorps) will be able to outcompete everyone by providing complex stuff for free.

If they can do it and succeed the Valley is in serious trouble and it's the same if they fail.

I am sorry but Uber is just a glorified taxi middleman and I have seen a good enough alternatives in some local markets that blew Uber out of the water.

If computers get significantly faster then no...but at this point I always reach for a native application if I have the choice.

The only non-native app I dont detest that much is VS Code but it still feels painfully slow compared to something like Sublime Text.

Lets look at the chat apps that provide a similar functionality.

Takes between 600-800MB on my PC. It's sluggish as hell and will often choke to re-render if I click on something.

* A native chat app Takes 15MB...Is just as eye candy as Teams and yet i dont care if it's running or not.

As someone who is not an american nor a chinese nor from a big European nation this is all frightening to watch.

It's an invisible war of nations and we dont really have a clue about allegiances nor what is right or wrong.

Sure as a european I feel more connected to the US but at the same time I feel very much excluded from that larger sphere protection and benefits.

The US needs a framework for smaller nations where we can build better relations.

Linux on desktop is somewhat bearable with the right distro but on a laptop it's a big no no (terrible battery life etc).

I always thought about more of a hybrid model for the US. Something like a market socialism a la Singapore.

I would try to commoditize housing,healthcare and food. It would be essential to make sure that these fundamental needs of people working for minimum wage are take care of.

Well this is actually one of the biggest issues in Eastern Europe. The belief the state should take care of its citizens ( the safety net you are talking about ). The truth is only populist crooks get elected and only come up with shortsighted inefficient solutions (and half of the budget gets stolen).
