Community edition is not a production ready product.

Use Aerospike only if you are ready to buy enterprise edition. Jepsen test results are applicable to enterprise edition only.

This sounds familiar. Few day ago i over overheard this, "Our user authentication system is on MySQL, it may not scale, let's move it to NoSQL."

Only time this table is touched to check user entered correct password or not.

Agree, there might not be ops team as well, it is dev ops culture. No one in team was brave enough to take the risk. I am sure there are no units test as well to ensure nothing breaks.

I have seen both extreme: no index v/s all column indexed, no cache at all v/s cache at every level.

I have seen caches having more inserts v/s reads.

I have seen them replacing MySQL by NoSQL as it does not scale for them.

This is common for early stage funded startups founded by non tech founders.

This might be a good case study for dying traditional form of online media. Credit goes to random dance of Google SERP. As per Alexa, search traffic (for macworld.com) is gone down from 50% to 30% of total traffic, in three months. Google decided to do a (un)fair distribution of traffic.

Niche content companies should remain lean to survive.

Would like to learn about company that can pay better than adsense on regular basis. I am reading this first time.

Edit: I would suggest you to give one more try to adsense, it might perform better this time.

Optimizely is good service, but I am looking for something cheap that I can install on my server(s) or that can work with Google Analytics. I am looking for feasible solution that can work for millions of user.

Million users are not even part of Optimizely's standard package (I assumed it is going to be expensive).

I wish I can use Optimizely client side APIs with free Google Analytics :)

No I did not got any notification.

It was EBS backed instance, since I had snapshot, it does not took much time to recreate a new instance. Beside that I had another instance behind ELB to avoid downtime.

If is fair to expect some notification for scheduled retirement.
