Here’s a question: Is the image of the photo trapped in the loop because the camera is seeing an after-image (that is, a moment where the image stays on the monitor briefly after its input has been changed) as I say in the video, or is it that the image of the photo is just in the wires at the time of the switching, so it’s displayed on the screen for just a moment before the new image from the camera comes through, or maybe a combination of both situations?

Yes, I understand what you're saying. And, it is the "fellow forum user who routinely points out past related links" that I am wondering about. I did look at that users past comments, and see that user is doing that kind of thing -a lot -. What I wanted to know was, is this something being done in an official capacity, or just someone being a posting-police bully.

But - I'm merely sharing something I think people will be interested in (and have shown interest in here in the past). If people are, indeed interested, the post gains traction and sticks around, if not, the post gets buried in obscurity. That is the beauty of this democratic process here.

I agree the UI for Premiere can be overwhelming to a new user. Also, the keyboard shortcuts are clearly assigned by engineers and not editors.

When I switched from tape-to-tape editing to NLEs in 2005, I started a new keyboard shortcut layout that was more intuitive, and was all on the left side of the keyboard, allowing the right hand to never have to leave the mouse.

I made a tutorial teaching Premiere by way of these shortcuts (although these shortcuts work on just about every NLE, with slight variations). The tutorial is long, but if you just go through the first part, explaining each shortcut, you can get pretty far along learning how to edit with Premiere.

Yes, it gives a notice like “Copyright issue, still alright to use.” It’s then not possible to monetize the video (no matter the number of views, I won’t make any money), and one or more ads will play on the video. Also, at the end of the description YouTube says what music is used with an image and link.

Sometimes there’s a notice saying the audio will be muted in certain countries, and some music would not be allowed at all (Beatles and Prince, for example).

Vimeo is much more lenient with no ads, and I’ll often have a video up on both YouTube and there.

New anodized aluminum shafts are used with Ewellix linear bearings for much improved sliding, rotation provided by inserting the linear bearings into radial bearings (this is the tricky part!).

The wooden linear motion transfer parts are replaced with radial bearings for improved rotating and zero-dead zone when pushing and pulling the shafts back and forth. And other stuff, plus a cat and dog. Enjoy.

Video Feedback Device “Insanity Mode” - the image on the left creates the image on the right while the image on the right creates the image on the left. They create each other!

In this mode of the Video Feedback Kinetic Sculpture, each of the four monitors effects every other monitor, and the image on the left is composed of the image on the right, while the image on right is composed of the image on the left - all at once! - making fractal sets within fractals sets within fractal sets within fractal sets...

Here, there's a feedback loop between two cameras and two monitor structures (each monitor structure has a top and bottom monitor with a sheet of beam splitter glass between the two). There's also a feedback loop between the monitor structures themselves, where the image created on the left structure is sent to the right structure, while the image created on the right structure is sent to the left structure (thus, Insanity Mode).

This is real. You bring up an interesting point about sentience, but I think there's an easy answer to your question.

It's true that it will become increasingly difficult for people to discern if these AIs are sentient, especially if the AI is inclined to say that it is, and say it has feeling, etc.

Knowing what I know about how these learn, I know that is not what sentience is, and there isn't any real "feeling" there, no matter how convincing it is if it said there are feelings. The problem is, other people won't know this, and they will begin to think they are sentient. This will undoubtedly become an issue at one point.

Your thought about humans being sentient, as in, when my friend says she is sentient, how do I know that is even true? Well, that's easy. Your friend is human, and you are human, and you know that you are sentient, so you can also know your friend is. You have to be able to know you yourself are, because you know you can feel, and think, and wonder and understand, you know this first hand.
