The film is brilliant because he managed to do things that no one was doing. He filmed scenes with only candle lighting using lenses made for NASA. He managed to get a movie that looked like a living painting, because of the lighting and the lenses. Then it also has that emotionless Kubrick acting. That brilliant emotionless acting mixed with the lighting was perfect for the painting look. I personally loved it just for it's theme song, which is pulled from a Schubert Trio, which is so unbelievably cool. Not a typical hollywood composed theme. He didn't alter the trio to fit the movie, he used the theme of that movement of the trio without editing. Of course it isn't the whole piece. It is an unusual movie in that it doesn't have the typical flow of a movie which makes it unusual to watch. Instead you are following this guy through his entire life, as he changes as a person. It's not a little date night romcom, it's a sit down and experience this film and think about it for days film. That flow may make it seem boring or mysteriously praised. But in the end it is a good as people say it is.

I agree with all of your points. I have done tons of research on how to use the keyboard only.

1. If the window is minimized (minimize with Cmd-M) you can Cmd-tab to it let go of Cmd hold tab and press option and let go of tab and the window will reappear.

2. I use Cmd-W to close windows and Cmd-M to minimize windows. If you hold Shift while double clicking the title bar of the window you can maximize it in the same paradigm as windows.

Not to be that guy, but. You can't play a concerto by yourself because a concerto is when you play as a soloist with an orchestra. And you can't really say "a perfect concerto" like "a perfect arpeggio". Would make more sense to say "Can play a sonata by itself perfectly."

I started at 15 (15 years ago). Although today I am a Python guy and generally a little anti PHP. I think that the ease of PHP with web servers translates almost immediately with beginners. It will teach him to search for what else is out there. Plus if he is going to be doing little church/synagogue websites, he start to grasp HTML/CSS/Javascript at the same time. Same way I started.

I hear ya. So it's a primary app? Right now it has 0 relation to any instrument at all. So if after spending some time with this app they walked over to any instrument at all they would have no idea what to do. No notation... Ok, but have something that at least looks like/relates to notes a little so that they can eventually get there. A good music app is hard to find and you are obviously a good programmer. I found people learn best when you compare it to something or tell a story or get them to use their imagination. Right now it's just grids.

Oy. Ajax is not a language. It always annoyed me a little when people say what you can "do" with a language. You can make games with any of those languages, and webapps, and "virtual tours".

It's a cool app and must have taken a lot of work. As a piano teacher myself: teaching chords is important but showing those notes on a staff I would think would be even more important. And showing chords in a grid with no relation to any other instrument doesn't really do anything pedagogically. If the chords were in their places on the keys of a piano or at least the colors of the keys, where flats and sharps were black and natural keys were white. Wave forms are cool but don't really teach anything (if you really are going for education here and not just a cool app).
