They pay more in the Bay area. Once you get out of the Bay area the pay goes down. Facebook even said if you telecommute they'll take into consideration where you live and pay you based on that.

I know on iOS you can just block any calls from contacts that are not in your list. It's pretty easy. My phone just won't ring. They'll be sent to voice mail instead. In my voice mail greeting, it says that I won't listen to the voice mail, and if they're trying to get in touch with me, hang up and text me.

I'm a big fan of kitboga, he's got a twitch and youtube channel. The scammers constantly ask for gift cards. It's amazing to listen to, especially when you think about the vulnerable segments of our population who fall for these scams.

There's websites where you can buy "used" gift cards and I wonder how many of these are cards from scammers that are now turning them over for cash.

I much prefer driving over sitting in traffic. One thing I noticed with Waze is that it would route me way out in the middle of nowhere to my location vs sitting in traffic. It was kind of interesting to see some of these back roads, I'll admit. I did learn some good alternate routes that I would sometimes just use on my own because I knew the freeway was going to be a parking lot.

I mostly use apple maps now with car play which is fine. After we moved my commute went from ~20-45 minutes to ~12 minutes so Waze really isn't a necessity anymore. :/

Can you trust reddit, though? There's plenty of social media campaigns out there that have people plugging stuff on reddit to promote some company or agenda.

We started using an app called Paprika that parses the page and extracts the recipe.

Although, I will admit, my youngest daughter and I get a kick out of the stories. We even try to predict which theme the writer will go with. Some are like Christmas Hallmark movies. lol.

I feel this way about Sirius/XM. It was such a hassle to deal with them every 6 months or a year to get a better rate when it came up for renewal. It just didn't feel like it was worth it anymore. And once I finally left they would snail mail me offers to come back constantly. I couldn't help but think that all that money spent mailing me to come back could have been spent just providing a more affordable service in the first place.

My iPad pro with apple pencil actually does a really a good job of having handwriting latency and really good power consumption. I took it to a conference in Anaheim and spent an entire day taking notes on it. I've got the keyboard attachment so if i really need to be fast I can just flip it and go. However, to your point, it probably is heavier than a notebook and regular pencil, and it is one more thing to charge at some point. There's definitely pros and cons to it. I lean on it mostly because I probably will take it with me anyway, so having it, plus a notebook really is more weight, and having the ipad out is more convenient than having my mbp out at a conference. :/

Little Snitch reminds me of Zone Alarm from back in the day.

I remember running into a developer who made an app to track inventory for a thing. Then I saw that he had the same app, with a different color, title, and icon, replicated over and over in the store charging ~$5 for each one. So, one app for Lego, one app for Magic the Gathering, and a few more for a few different things. Just change the name, color and title and resubmit. Boom, new app, new revenue stream.

I think back to AT&T CEO John Walter who was barely at the job 11 months before he was forced out. He made a nice tidy sum of money plus a new house for his efforts.

yeah, but unless you're in a city like New York (possibly a handful of others) the wait is FOREVER. In Phoenix it was routine to have to wait half an hour or more. Same in SLC. It's awful. Uber and Lyft reduced the wait to a fraction of the time with better, quicker and cheaper service.

Does it have to be a treadmill? I mostly do the elliptical (ski whatever it's called) since i'm not much of a runner. Just curious if I need to take it up a notch or not.

i would go so far as 80% of the places I go don't accept chip and anything. they all have little stickers on them saying "chip doesn't work, please swipe" or the equivalent. i'm pretty sure they don't even have a plan for implementing it.
