Very interesting:

Instead of writing the same code again and again in the console and assigning each function different amounts of storage, I can write the code once and declare multiple functions that each reference that same code, while assigning different amounts of storage for each one.

Role: Staff Software Engineer - Web Contact: admin @ trystoryboard.com

Storyboard is a collaboration tool that allows teams to communicate and collaborate through on-demand, podcast-like audio in their workplace.

With over 1,500 companies on our service, we allow customers to share audio recordings of Town Halls, executive updates, on-demand training for mobile teams, and more.

Our web-focused engineer will help drive the execution of our product roadmap as we expand on our platform to deeply solve opportunities where teams can leverage audio. Please connect with us if this sounds like a fit.

how confident are we that spending $1B on real estate in a market where you already have a strong footprint is optimal?

I guess at what point does it make more sense to locate to a less pricy metro and pay engineering talent to come (basically pick Amazon's reject list other than the VA and NY winners)?

It was actually crazy to me how dense the crowds were around San Marco and how, if we walked 10 minutes away, it felt like a small town.

Does seem to support the article's hypothesis that people are really determined to collect the marquee experience and don't necessarily feel motivated to do much else.

If it's unethical for billionaire tech founders to focus on the needs of future generations, what moral grounding does, say, environmentalism have?

By this logic, would it not be fair to say that every dollar invested in green solutions comes at the expense of other worthy societal projects that could meaningfully change the status quo?

Those efforts are largely seen as virtuous. Seems to me the only difference here is the origin of the money: tech.

This article points out Phase 2 will look to connect LAX with the 101.

Does anyone know anything about the logistics of receiving approval to dig underground? From their FAQ (see below), it says they will partner with the City of Los Angeles, but does LA own mineral rights such that they could sell the needed territory surface for this ambitious project? I assume Boring is definitely not dealing with individual property owners.

"Blue indicates potential Phase 2 expansion options, and is included as a concept, not as a finalized alignment. Phase 2 specifics would be developed in cooperation with Los Angeles County, the City of Los Angeles, city governments in the greater Los Angeles area, and the general public. The Boring Company looks forward to receiving feedback from residents of the greater Los Angeles area on station locations and system improvements for Phase 2 and beyond."

PocketCasts is interesting because arguably the Discover section is less central than other apps (I can't remember the last time I used except to do searches for new shows vs. other apps where the main page is loaded for recommendations of shows I don't care about).

I wonder if that changes.

Tried the multiplayer VR experience at Disney in Orlando recently (Star Wars themed shooter game in teams 4 of connected headsets).

It was cool but the ability to integrate the physical side is definitely a limitation (i.e. getting shot at by Stormtroopers, and I think they tried to add an unconvincing rumble effect using the backpack if memory serves).

My favorite is when I do the digging, find a similar answer that misses a key nuance, link to it to help explain the difference, and then get marked as a duplicate to the question that I am saying is different with no explanation.

SO is a killer resource for me as a new-ish coder but man, there's an uphill climb before you can avoid making people mad while using it.

Add to that the cultural aspect that artists have a stake in making tickets look artificially inexpensive -- no one wants to see Bruce Springsteen "take advantage" of his fans, but if TM does it, then they take the blow even if a cut goes back to the artist/promoter.

"Many of the most important antitrust lawsuits in American history — against IBM, Alcoa, Kodak and others — were rooted in claims that one company had made technological discoveries that allowed it to outpace competitors."

Does that say more about the success of antitrust at spurring competitors to catch up or that "technological dominance" is only good as long as long as the paradigm doesn't shift (i.e. Kodak is now pretending to be a crypto company as a last resort)?

I've been doing the Amazon drop shipping thing for ~6 months, and I am honestly shocked how little these "quirks" in the AMZ ecosystem are discussed.

Aside from the product review issues listed here, Amazon seems to enforce almost nothing related to their core rules.

Do a search of your choice and look at the picture thumbnails. Amazon claims you need to put your picture on a white background with no text or other content other than the product. Maybe 50% of vendors are violating this for most searches, and nothing happens.

A more nefarious example that I haven't experienced but have friends who have: overseas manufacturers replicating your product, using the same SKU, and then allowing it to be listed as a variant of your original product. You can email Amazon all you want, but it's unlikely you will get Amazon to fix it.

tl;dr becoming a vendor on Amazon isn't as much of a walk in the park as some say it used to be, and there are a lot of headaches you have to deal with -- all while seller fees are increasing YOY.

Reminds me of the Joe Biden speech a couple years back:

If I took you and blindfolded you and took you to LaGuardia Airport in New York, you'd think, ‘I must be in some third-world country.’
