The whole Zuckerberg pretending to be conservative now that Trump is in power has been hilarious really. Like being in the Joe Rogan show, saying companies need more masculinity or some shit. How about we don't let private companies do whatever the fuck they want?

It's hilarious to me that so many people are just noticing the censorship of these sites. But hey, I guess that's a good thing right? Surely we all want freedom of speech now.

That's actually not that easy to do when people are expected to be living alone at a certain age. Finding a partner could be good for you but that's also not so simple. I think most people would prefer hanging out with others rather than scrolling tik tok (you might enjoy alone activities but tik tok scrolling comes out of boredom), but sometimes they have no choice. It's like the way we live is pointing us specifically in that direction, at least by default.

I saw a lot of this when I went to college for engineering, some professors had this ability (or willingness) to make hard things simple, and others did the opposite, it was the same with the books, I dreaded the "exercise for the reader" shit, I don't think I ever did any of those, so those were all proofs I never got.

The conclusions a lot of people draw from universal healthcare are, frankly, insane most of the time. I've seen people saying that people in Europe are happier because of free access to therapy (as in, mental health), which implies a lot of things, but is not even true. Going to therapy here in Norway is extremely expensive. The idea that someone would indulge in risky behavior just because a doctor will "fix you" for free is also ridiculous. This person clearly didn't think too much about it considering how people eat in the US.

I've always found weird how people draw conclusions from small correlations, specially when other studies show the opposite result. They call it hypothesis, but weirdly enough these conclusions often coincide with their world view. Look at that, now I'm the one drawing conclusions, must be human nature to try to make sense of things. But what I've found is that often reality is counter intuitive, and that's more fun.

And they're loving it, of course when they read stuff like "ignorant people are the loudest" they all feel like they're the knowledgeable quiet ones.

It's hard to not be cynical when you read stuff like "Envy is like drinking poison expecting the other person to die." which is like 2 different inspirational quotes taped together, I heard this one about hatred rather than envy.

Honestly I've been using Firefox for more than 10 years and never felt the need to switch. Every time I try a new browser there's features from Firefox that I end up missing. And seeing the shitshow with the ad blockers in Chrome there's no way I'm trying that lol.

That's an extremely simplistic way to dismiss the problem. Depression wasn't something that was invented or discovered in the last decade.

I'll try to apply this as I've been battling the problem of my job being too easy and never applying what I learnt in school.

There were so many interesting problems and theories in school that you never see as a regular developer, often I think that I have a job that any person could do with a few months of training (does this make me a narcissist? Is the complain here just that my job is unglamorous or is wasting your skills a legit concern?). I guess I haven't matured enough, or maybe I'm not really sold into the impact my company is making.

I don't understand what are these immense benefits, to catch more criminals? Since when has throwing more people in jail reduced crime? I guess this would stop someone who is plotting a murder but a school shooting is gonna happen either way.

I love how straight forward you are, seriously, let's not beat around the bush this is basically what the conversation is gonna come down to. IQ might be a completely useless number (as it has been pointed out, it doesn't predict success or anything like that), but denying that it's related to genetics is absurd too.

I'm not doing that, I'm pointing out that when you say only the most extreme conservatives are against porn you're giving your back to all the people that have been affected by this. Saying "not all porn companies do that" is meaningless in this case, because there are good enough reasons to be against porn that don't have anything to do with religion.
