Thanks for sharing this! I'm curious why you chose the Apache 2.0 license over another possible license that would help mitigate cloud providers (read: AWS) simply taking this code and offering their own version of your service?

The 25 local run limit really sucks. We use postman for regression testing and suddenly we're totally sidelined by this. Even with the professional plan, it's 250 local runs a month. These numbers are crazy low for a team that relies on this functionality.

My 4 year old son Michal died 11 years ago and I still grieve him every day. It is deep in my bones, an abscess. As this beautiful and heavy article describes, the act of grieving became an addiction to me. I kept "breaking beautiful things" in my mind because living with the ghost child instead of the living world kept his memory closer and my hands less shaky. He was an addiction, I had rituals I had to do (watch old videos, peruse old photos) every day. Without these things, I felt like I was betraying him. I fantasized about digging up his bones a lot. All a ruse, a cycle in my own mind, designed to soothe an addict haunted by his ghost child. A divorce and lots of personal writing and tears (and so many years) later, I am in a healthier place. But "grief is what love looks like when they're gone" is a simple and poignant way to put it: I will always be haunted, and I will always love the haunt, but I cannot be owned by him like I was for so many years. When he comes to haunt me, I welcome it. But unlike before, I don't smother him. Now I let him float away too.

I am not able to give much more now, but I can say that given the contractual nature of our application, we've been fortunate to start out with a HUGE user base that has taxed Meteor and exposed its scalability issues more than most typical Meteor apps at this time. It's still young, and there are some significant advances that can be made to its oplog driver, but overall Meteor is incredibly forward-thinking compared to other full-stack implementations. Philosophically speaking, you must be all-in, however, otherwise you will always kick against the goads. As everyone's favorite theologian would say.

No, we've seen it however...we've lacked the time to investigate properly. Very intriguing.

We will be sharing more soon. We've been developing with Meteor since the winter of 2012 and two main scaling issues have crept up: (1) the web tier was a bottleneck prior to 0.7.0's implementation of oplog tailing; and (2) post oplog tailing, mongo actually became our bottleneck with the write locks. We were able to get to about 3300 concurrent users (in our very data-intensive application) against a single beefy mongo primary before the database started choking, and at that point, we could set our readPreference to the secondary in order to further scale horizontally.

We've built a huge meteor app that has scaled to 1000s of concurrent users and still growing -- there have been some sticky points along the way, but overall, we're extremely pleased. Meteor is an amazing engineering feat.
